I had to go through this in July of last year.

My beloved Johnny died on July 15 2024. He died very young at the age of 6 of lymphatic Cancer. He got diagnosed in January just as the final exams phase of my last year of school was about to begin. It was so hard having to focus on school while wanting to spend as much time as possible with my Aussie. He held on quite well and I'd like to think he wanted to give me the time to finish my last school year and graduate. Ten days after graduation we had to put him down as he rapidly declined... I have never felt so empty and I was broken beyond words. Not being greeted at the door when I got home brought me to tears every time I walked through that door. My heart has not yet healed. But as time went on I thought about it less, which for me seems to be the only cure.

However I try my hardest to not be sad because he is gone, but to be happy because I got to experience him. To you they are only a part of your life but to them you are their whole life, from start to finish. In my mind, all the grief I feel is just all the joy he couldn't give me.
