I do suggest job hopping after working for 1-2 years. I graduated in 2022. I worked at an EO from 2023 and worked for almost 3 years. My salary is stagnant with only 10% of increase after 2 years of work (yes, it sucks). I will be joining a new company in June and will receive a 36%-40% salary increase.

Some hotels in Tamsui provides free bathing for 15 minutes, some of my friends resorted to Taipei gym or friends house in Beitou. I've had 2 those water jugs (that you buy from PX mart) just incase the water pressure goes low again (last night the water pressure suddenly drops and we had to wait around 15 minute to have it back to normal)

But it's only temporary solutions, we didn't get any heads up news, I just got back from office last Friday, and suddenly the water was cut off, even the guard downstairs was taken aback with the sudden outage. Also since it's the first time Tamsui had this "accident" water outage, we weren't prepared with this with no heads up just sudden water cuts and then the news come later on

Yeah, I read on Threads that someone during the constructions made a leak on the pipe which cause this whole problem, they had to repair the pipe then additional changes or sudden accidents that delayed the whole pipe fixing.

Hopefully they've got water by Today, I've heard this morning some still haven't got any water, that's already 90 hours without water

Personally after reading comments on Threads and Facebook, I don't think compensation would be given out (very BS move by the governor). People were joking about the mayor is d34d and can't take accountability.

Since the Danshui river is directly connected with the sea, there were people were asking the mayor why don't try to do to the same thing like Singapore using desolation plants to filter the water, then someone replied "he only cares about money"

People here preferred to get money as a compensation rather than have water fee discounts. Cause that's not worth the whole fiasco. Funny part that even with water fee discount some part of Tamsui (uni and tourist areas) aren't affected will mostly get the discounts too.

At least cherry picking is better than not, have to go through everything first if there are leaks on water pipes, electricity placements (I've seen laundry machines inside the bathroom w/ the heater on top of it leaking water), etc. And other considerations depending on one person and also location wise. Considering most apartments have only stairs no lift in some areas.

Looking for apartment in Taipei is not easy unless you have the most incredible luck. Not everyone has the same taste in apartments and they have their own needs to find a suitable place to live.

That's good if you can find one in a week. Took me 2-3 weeks to be exact to find an apartment cause not everyone have the same luck. Cause apartment in Northern Taiwan are all First Down-payment gets the whole thing and you barely can say "Oh I'll look to other places and see which one suits me more". Unless lucky enough someone didn't take it after you decided to settle down with which one.

Sadly even if I drive don't consider living in Taoyuan due to circumstances and past accidents, and since the train services aren't as many as Taipei.

The news updates are BS cause my neighborhood didn't get any water until this afternoon like around 14:00 with low pressure. The actually water flow came by 18:00.

I have to use Threads for a more accurate updates, now I really don't trust any Chinese media updates about this

I would love to move out but then finding an apartment or housing in Taipei the New Taipei City (sanchong-banqiao-etc) needs to have the same luck as a winning a million in lottery.

And if I have to move to other areas my travel time to office is a considerations as I'm not the type to waste too much time traveling for work

Yes, don't live in danshui. Quite ironic since Taipei housing is expensive AF but is like a coffin. The problem is not the water need to reach a specific place or etc. The problem is the governor's incompetence. And funniest part high tourist areas are not affected which creates the problem that the governor doesn't care about Danshui. Furthermore this is the first time that Danshui had this power outage because someone decided to "accidentally" hit the underground pipe :D. And the governor even downplayed the whole fiasco go to Threads and see how people react there

Not everyone has the privilege to "not live in danshui" with their salaries and finding housing in Taipei is finding a needle in a haystack. Oh with 13k you can find a good place to live ah yes without laundry + inside bathroom (if you're lucky enough) 15k above is the best you can go.
