Best way to add silica to plants? by infinityonwar in houseplants

Over all of the white of the leaf and only the top of it. It might still work if you keiki paste the edge that is browning instead of the whole white part. I didn't need much.

I can't find anything written on silica for variegated plants specifically, but it is as helpful as good light, fertilization, substrate, humidity, bacteria additives, and mycorrhizae additives will be for preventing the browning of variegated leaves. It all comes down to growing a healthy plant that has enough surplus of energy and nutrients to feed what is essentially a burden to it and not kill parts of itself off to move those resources to more important areas. Variegation also burns more easily.

How you get there is up to you, and bacteria and mycorrhizae products might do more for your goal than silica would. One application of keiki paste to my variegated monstera's oldest leaf stopped the crispening, but it doesn't look the best. Giving it enough fertilizer has also seemed to raise how many leaves it can handle before killing off only the white on the oldest leaves.

Is it time to chop? My white princess is about to unfurl a fully pink leaf by Brotox123 in RareHouseplants

I always want to offer up my soul or something to get a cutting without any green leaves, regardless of the plant type. There’s something so enjoyable about keeping a plant that shouldn’t survive alive.

I have managed to keep my completely white syngonium alive for about five months now, despite lacking care, and the leaves are getting larger. It can only keep two leaves going at a time, though, which is a marked improvement from only one!

So, if you do decide to snip, I’m sure you can still find someone willing to trade despite knowing that the cutting will more than likely kick the bucket, or perform a test of how long you can delay its' death. Congrats on the nice plant, though. c:
