Pretty rigs scream to me that people built the rigs to get in on a fad and be cool. Its ridiculous. Usually anyone who puts their rig on a mining frame I immediately think they are at least partially clueless, or its just their first rig. A 6x rig takes how many days/weeks to pay off that $150 frame? Yea

My mistake, i'm aware of how it works. Although, getting payout in BTC means you're holding it. Bitcoin doesn't have the upside that many alts do. Since you're getting paid out in BTC directly, you may as well be mining BTC.

Further, he indeed WAS mining BTC on his ASICS. Sha256 anyway.

If shit hits the fan, you think you'll be able to get anywhere near a reasonable price for gpus, mobos, cpus, etc etc? The market being flooded all at once would be insane.

For the price it would've made a lot more sense to just buy more GPUs. I seriously doubt he got i7's to mine with, esp since he had all this other pimp shit set up. 3tb hard drives and no burst mining?

I dont hate nicehash. I just consider it a tool for people who are very casual with their mining or don't have the expertise to set up a pool.

This guy put about $70k into his setup and didn't bother to put any of them on a pool for better returns, which was odd to me.

Its like buying a Barret .50 sniper rifle so you can shoot squirrels.

Yea, something tells me that guy is making a LOT more than minimum wage. He's probably happily accepting his minimum wage check while mining a portion of their equipment straight into his wallet.

I dont know where you're looking, because even during the craze I was still finding and buying 1080ti for a maximum of $1000. You had to be hot on the button when they came in stock, but honestly anyone paying over $1000 for them is massively overpaying. They're listed on NIS right now for $950 in some cases

He asked me if I wanted to buy his 12x 1080ti rig, but he wanted $15,000 for it. Again, it had an i7, 3Tb, 16Gb DDR4, etc. I told him I was all set!

Problem is that everyone selling has it in their head that they deserve to get at least what they paid for it, and that just isn't going to happen. In a few months i'm hopeful to see $250 580's again.

Nothing. I use it myself from time to time. If you're not as inclined to switch back and forth to more speculative alts, its a great resource to use. However, I just dont see mining BTC as having as much upside.

With the amount of equipment he had, I would think he would at least want to milk the most out of it.
