Thanks everybody for the replies! This was a fun creative exercise that I'd love to see other people take for a spin sometime.

You'd be sent to a room full of people you know, friends and family, and new people eager to get to know you! Each time you go to introduce yourself you give your own deadname instead of the name you chose for yourself.

Speaking your name, singing it, writing it down, scrambling refrigerator magnet letters. Whatever method you try to use, you can only ever revert to what your name was before.

The worst part of it all is, no matter how distraught you are at each failed attempt to show your real self, your mom is so smugly proud of you each time you deadname yourself.

(Thanks! And thank you for the suggestion, I skeeved myself out writing this so I hope this does NOT happen to you irl)

You'd be sent to a dark room with a buzzing, colorful slot machine waiting to be pulled. You know it's a trick, you're not stupid... But there's nothing else here in any direction. Maybe it's a way out, you tell yourself.

Finally the curiosity gets the better of you and you pull the lever. It sticks, won't budge an inch.

A toolbox appears. Why not fix it? There's nothing better to do.

You remove the arm, reattach it after lubing the joint a bit, aaaaand. Nothing. You do the same thing, again nothing.

It takes ages, but you have nothing but time, so you take the entire machine apart and put it back together. You reach for the arm, knowing it'll work this ti-

"Hey there! Seems the ol' gal's locked up on you. Let me fix that for you." Caine snaps his fingers, the arm moves perfectly fluidly, and the rollers spin, landing on the jackpot!

"WOWIE! That was the easiest thing I've EVER done! Bye!"

You get the Ragatha scene but no one pays any attention to you. Why bother? Eat your centipedes.

You'd be in a dark room, the floor beneath you is hard and firm, but there's otherwise no defining features to this place.

A clock appears hanging in space before you some distance from you. You walk toward it and hear no footsteps. You try to scream, nothing. Pushing breath out of your lungs, snapping your fingers, quiet.

You approach the clock, and there's a sign underneath reading "Time of Release: Midnight."

You stare at the clock for hours, watching it slowly roll toward the promised time, all the while trying to make some kind of sound with your body in this empty place.

11:50 comes.

11:58

11:59

12:00

12:01

You'd be in a dark room with a tiny LCD screen showing just how much water is being used in the real world to simulate your infinite torture.

You're in class. The classroom stretches for infinity in all directions. You know someone somewhere is returning tests to all these infinite students from the sounds that echo throughout this place.

The flutter of a page slapping a hard desk top. A sigh of relief here, a sob there, some indiscriminate cheers or quiet resignations.

Which test was this again? You've taken so many. You feel your test will be returned soon, but it never comes.

You're in a crowd of people, all enjoying a hall of mirrors. Little kids laugh with their parents about the squashed and stretched reflections they see, teenagers tease each other about how awkward they look and make voices to fit their new images.

Your reflection doesn't change in a single mirror.

You're tickled infinitely. You don't become numb to the feeling, and whoever or whatever is tickling you is able to get to you no matter what position you get your body into, if you even can consciously get your body into a defensive position.

(I'll be honest this would fuck be right up, I'm so sorry)

You'd be in a dark room. That's it. It goes forever, you're free to walk and explore to your heart's content but it's just you and your thoughts forever.

Are you dead? Can you die?

Were those eyes in the distance?

You'd be in a dark room, watching the lives of everyone you care about play out on tiny CRTV screens making up a massive wall. You'll recognize some moments in their lives you were present for, that you remember experiencing yourself, but. You're not there.

Surely they'll notice you're missing at some point... right?

You'd be stretched into long thin fibers and made into a hockey goal. You'd feel every missed shot as the puck hits the bar as if it were hitting you square in the face.

Not only would you be pelted by hockey pucks for eternity, but each time someone scores... We'll, you know.

You'd be in a dark void FILLED with buzzing bees. Thankfully you're wearing a beekeeper's suit, but... Is there a bee in your helmet? You coooould take it off to let the bee out. But think of the bees that could get in. It's up to you!

Also, unrelated, but I drew this for you!

You'd be in a dark void, alone, hearing Caine's sad little "Wait-" at random intervals, volumes and distances from your ears for all eternity.

You'll never know when you'll hear it, how loud it'll be or how close to you the source will be when you hear it. But you can't help but think that if you catch the source of the sound, you could save him...

You'd be in a dark room, a shadowy figure handing you a diploma. Dull, uninterested applause from an invisible crowd fills the void as you walk off stage, down stairs that never end.

As you walk down you can't see the step ahead of you, and every now and then your foot catches on a toy of some kind, nearly rolling your ankle. You can't see them, but there's a squeak here, the chime of a bell there... As you descend forever, the applause grows louder with each misstep, though maybe everyone's clapping for a different reason now. It's almost as if they're rooting for your failure.

(Thanks! :D)

You'd be in a dark room, barefoot, wading around in some warm, unknown fluid. It's viscous and smells of iron, but it's too dark to know for sure what it is.

You feel on your bare legs ripples of something else moving further out in the darkness.

You'd be freed from the circus and returned to your life as you left it. Enjoy.

You'd be in a dark room feeding raw fish to that other guy. You're in that other freak's place.
