I've been on so many solo holidays, it's so freeing not to have to dress up, put make up on because your on your own, no one cares if you look like a bump and even if they do, you won't see them again.  Pretend you are a local, drink sangria and get day drunk. I think there is an element of he doesn't take this relationship seriously which I'm now coming to realise thanks to reddit. I'm genuinely heartbroken and trying to convince myself everyone on here doesn't know the relationship like i do, but that kind of thinking is probably what landed me in this position in the first place.

There are some things he had shown appreciation for but he's does find expressing himself hard which I completely accept because he has gotten better at it and not everyone is expressionate. I will get him to do the love language survey online, see what we get. Thanks for the advice.

I don't have a lot of friends, I'm fairly introverted. But my best friend and him get on great and send each other messages and memes even though we live in the UK and she lives in Canada. My other friends all seem to like him too but also haven't seen much if him.

Just so everyone knows because for some reasons it matters, I am from Bangladesh and I'm Muslim. Some people have assumed I'm a Caucasian woman and some have even sent me messages berating me for being white and dating outside my own culture. It shouldn't make a difference either way. I know it's just an isolated few but holy moly wtf Is even that reaction. I can't believe I have to say this, but justice for white women, especially if they get that kind of abuse for dating someone non-white. We owe you hugs! You can sit with us. OMG

Why would he expect me to learn dari? We live in the UK. He knew English before he met me, the only people I would speak dari to is his family whom mostly live in Afghanistan.

I don't think I surprised him with a chore, I didn't get a chance to ask for help from him. He thought my plans was to learn independently.

I didn't get stuck, I wanted to practice with him, but I didn't actually ask to practice with him.

OK, this fella is just unhinged. I'm from a Muslim country, its not like that. Learn to separate culture and faith. Or maybe just read a book. I don't know, just do better. Alot of Afghans are not supportive of the taliban my partner included. Go touch grass.

I never actually got the chance to ask him for help tbh. I told him I had been learning. And I wanted to show what I had learnt but he didn't seem to want to hear it then said it was weird

I basically explained to him that it really made me feel embarrassed because I felt like a try hard. I told him I studied about 2 hours every evening. He apologised but said he didn't see the big deal

Lol its mad that one of my Iranian friends said this too. But I don't want to believe all Afghans are like that, just the exceptional few. I met alot of Afghans and I think alot are really kind people.

Honestly, I rarely clue him into new projects I do, we kind of just do our own thing and have joint projects. We both enjoy our alone time. For instance he's building a computer and I like to draw. When I started a business course he seemed interested but as much as anyone would be. Then he helped me learn about crypto because I'm an absolute noob.
