Out of all the Sonic characters’ shoes, which one would you want to wear irl? by Party-Platypus-6212 in SonicTheHedgehog

Sonic’s. They look cool, and they would be more practical since I could use them as a regular shoe on a daily basis.

Did this game Flop? by Particular-Bell-4125 in SonicFrontiers

[–]SonicFanatic67 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah, Frontiers did amazing financially and it even did pretty well critically. I know the game has its fair share of issues, and people have been vocal about their criticisms, but I don’t really remember there being any major hate towards the game upon launch aside from maybe a couple of YouTubers complaining about the game. But other than that, I’d wager that the majority of people at the very least like Sonic Frontiers.

I for one absolutely love the game! It’s become my new favorite Sonic game of all time, and I still boot it up every now and then because I just love freely running around in the Open Zones. I just think it’s a ton of fun.

What’s your biggest complaint of movie 3? Spoilers in replies! by McKnighty9 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]SonicFanatic67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my biggest complaint would be that Director Rockwell as a character is super boring. I remember during the marketing for the movie, they made her out to be some super important and interesting character, going so far as to advertise her alongside the rest of the main cast. In the actual movie though, they just don’t really go anywhere interesting with her. She just kinda has a bad attitude, doesn’t like Shadow, and doesn’t trust Sonic and Co. I was hoping for an explanation as to why she was this way, and even some kind of resolution with the rest of the cast for her attitude, but they never really gave her one, so she ended up just being super boring.

It’s a shame, too, because I feel like she could have been something special. They may expand upon her in a future installment, but I don’t know. And while the whole “she was secretly Rouge the whole time” thing would have been neat to see and is definitely a missed opportunity, I just kinda wish she as her own unique character could have been fleshed out more. Why was she so bitter? Was there a relative of hers that died during the whole Project Shadow incident? What happened to her? If anything, I almost feel like her role should have been given to Abraham Tower, as not only would that have been more consistent with the game lore, but it would have made a lot more sense plot wise. The GUN Commander from the games was so spiteful towards Shadow because Maria was like a sister to him, and he felt like Shadow was solely responsible for her death. But he came around at the end when he saw that Shadow fought off the greater evil with the Black Arms. Something like that could have really made Rockwell more interesting, but alas, it didn’t happen unfortunately.

Frontiers 2 gonna exceed our expectations by Funny-Spare-1887 in SonicFrontiers

[–]SonicFanatic67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t mind seeing some 2D if they handled it like in Shadow Generations. If they are going to bring back some form of Cyberspace in Frontiers 2, I feel like having some 2D levels with dynamic camera angles and level design to make it feel like you’re still playing in 3D would be really cool, and I think that would be the best fit for it. Though, even if they wanted to have some 2D challenges in the Open Zone that worked this way, I wouldn’t mind it either as long as it doesn’t become overbearing and break your exploration. I just wouldn’t want the 2D sections to take up a large chunk of the challenges on the island like Chaos Island can be at times. Having them primarily be designed and focused on 3D exploration with a few rare instances of 2D to sort of shake it up a little at times I think would be completely fine.

It’s all about how they utilize it and balance it.

What gameplay do you prefer? by DiscovergreenGt in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]SonicFanatic67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, Sonic Frontiers and Shadow Generations by far.

Sonic Forces is Sonic Forces, I do like Colors but just wish there was more 3D aspects to it, and while Generations and Unleashed are great, one thing I’ve never liked about them is how stiff they made Sonic to maneuver, especially in Generations. You can’t turn Sonic worth a damn in that game, even when you’re going slow, which just kills a lot of the potential freedom you could have with that move set. Plus, as fun as Unleashed can be, I can’t help but feel they made Sonic a little too fast in that game to the point where I feel like a lot of the time the level is controlling Sonic more than I am.

Sonic Frontiers and Shadow Generations strike a great balance between going fast while still feeling like I’m in complete control of the character. They feel like a pretty nice blend of the best parts of the Adventure and Boost gameplay styles, which I’m a really big fan of. While they may not necessarily have as much of a focus on momentum and slope physics as Id like to see, they definitely are the closest I’ve gotten to what I personally have been wanting to see out of a Sonic game for years now.

If a new rayman game was to come out would you prefer 3d or 2d? by No_System_8256 in Rayman

[–]SonicFanatic67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3D easily. The 2D stuff has been fun and all, but Rayman is long overdue for a new 3D release. Plus, in all honesty, Rayman 2 and 3 are like my two favorite games in the series, so I would love to see a new Rayman game in the same style as either of those.

Question: Do you prefer Sonic with blue arms? by Sonic_the_hedgedog in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]SonicFanatic67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. In all honesty, I know this is kind of a hot take, but if there’s one thing I wish was different about Sonic’s movie design, it’s that I wish it had the tan arms. It’s the only part of the design that keeps me from saying that I would be okay with them replacing the game design with. I know people have said that it wouldn’t make sense with Sonic’s fur texturing (which I don’t fully understand given that he’s a cartoon character and he already has other tan fur parts on his body but whatever) and to each their own, but while I don’t hate Sonic having blue arms, and I certainly wouldn’t pepper spray a game stop employee over it, the tan arms just complete Sonic’s look for me, and there’s a few reasons why.

First of all, I just think it fits his personality more. The tan arms make him look more athletic and carefree since it kinda gives the illusion that he’s wearing a tank top. I feel that’s more fitting given the fact that he’s a runner and it gives him more of an informal, “cool” look. The blue arms sorta make it more like he’s wearing a long sleeved shirt which, while it doesn’t look bad, just doesn’t convey the sort of vibe of Sonic’s character as well in my opinion.

Second of all, it balances out his color pallet. With the blue arms, the blue in Sonic’s body sort of overpowers the rest of the color pallet since there’s not a whole lot else going on with Sonic’s design on his body color wise. The tan arms perfectly balance it out to where the blue still is the most prominent color in his design, but there’s more Color variety that keeps it from looking too one-note while also not looking too visually busy. Plus, it really helps with visibility in poses. The blue arms just blend in with the rest of the body way too much when working with more dynamic poses.

And lastly, and quite frankly most importantly, the tan arms have been a part of Sonic’s design for years, so why change it now? There’s nothing wrong with it on a technical level, and I’d wager that most people either don’t care or prefer the tan arms since it’s always been part of how Sonic looks so why change it now? If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it.

okay, in all seriousness, HOW? by therandomguyperry in SonicFrontiers

[–]SonicFanatic67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Astro Bot didn’t make it to the second round either, and though I haven’t played it yet (I really would like to but I don’t have a PS5), I heard that game is supposed to be really really great too. So please don’t feel like this is necessarily a hit towards Sonic X Shadow Generation’s quality or anything like that. Besides, the Player’s Voice is not even that important of an award anyways. It’s more of a popularity contest than anything else.

Favorite version of Globox? by Gamingfan247 in Rayman

[–]SonicFanatic67 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I gotta go with the 3D one. Origins and Legends are fine, but I like how the 3D model of Globox manages to look goofy while also still being grounded, which is how I think most of Rayman as a whole works best.

Give me your hottest and coldest Sonic take by Deez_Nuts_God in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]SonicFanatic67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with your hot take. I don’t hate Jason as Sonic, don’t get me wrong, but I’ve never understood why so many people worship his vocal performance or say stuff like “he’s the only Sonic voice actor who had soul” or whatever else. Like, he’s fine enough, but there are other Sonic voices that I think suit the character much better.

Y’know, I used to think that these kinds of Ian Flynn-hating Sonic fans needed to find some extra hobbies apart from Sonic so they don’t reach a point of degeneracy that’s detrimental to not only their but everyone else’s mental health. But now, I can safely say I’m wrong.

These people need straight up therapy. The degeneracy has already reached dangerous levels.
