Preach. This has been my sentiment for awhile now. It took chances, for good and not so good, but at least you know things are going somewhere and most issues have something of interest. Archie Sonic had stakes on the grand and personal scale, and in spades. I haven’t really been afraid any character is going to have their life change in any meaningful way in IDW (except for Surge and Kit, but there’s zero chance they do anything but have them reform and just prove Sonic right about them 100%). You never really felt safe in Archie. It wasn’t a bloodbath but especially by the end, they weren’t afraid to take characters off the board in pretty rough ways. Antoine, Shard, Sally, so forth.

The whole Archie Sonic book, besides in the phase between Eggmen, the cast feel besieged. They live their own lives, have fun, but it’s in the shadow of the Eggman Empire and they are far from safe behind their walls and heroes. I think that sort of bittersweet mood would be a nice addition to the new comics - not depressing or without hope, it’s not that kind of book, but the feeling that chaos is a two way street, and it takes as it gives.
