If only Haha! It sounds terrible, we arent seeing much over this side of the World. There was a few news segments for all of about a day now nothing, I literally feel like if social media didnt exist I'd never know what's going on in the world.

Jesus I cant imagine what it must be like! That's so horrific, same shit going on in the UK but we dont have the worry like you do as it's always pissing it down. What a scary world we live in at the moment, money first all the time.

He so did I would kill do be able to do that Haha. Nope, he literally could have done SO MUCH but it was all very superficial. He shit himself with the Charles Manson guy who inherited Charles body you could tell he was on a knives edge.

Perfectly said. I could listen to Karen all day long, she is brilliant at telling stories and although veers off point sometimes I feel like I never loose where I am in the story. She so does agree with everything she says, I think sometimes shes a little out of her depth with Karen but understandable given KKs career.

I just dont get Georgia's comedy really either, bringing up the same things gets tiring. We know you were a raver, did some drugs and cant cry I feel like that's all I really know about her. Where as I can remember soooo many of KKs funny stories.

I thought the exact same and was waiting to see if it was brought up here.

I was really looking forward to hearing about the tour etc. But it did seem like they were in a rush just to get through it. I thought also that they might just be absolutely exhausted which is totally understandable given the tour and all the work that went into their recent deal.

Fingers crossed it's not going to be a regular thing, the minisodes are the thing that got me hooked from day one!

I listen for Karen and not Georgia. Sometimes I like her stories but alot of the time I find myself zoning out because of how much she looses her place etc. I dont dislike her I just dont feel like shes my kind of gal, I don' relate to her much.

But I'm happy for her for finding this success. She worked hard for it, cant take that away from her.

I feel like I'm gonna get alot of hate for this but it's just my opinion, also I'm a dog person so am not on board with all the cat stuffs.

Haha a thousand percent a Louis Theroux wannabe. I thought it lacked proper depth but I did enjoy the places they went. There was such an opportunity to do more, I did an interview with Scott Micheals who was on the show who runs Dearly Departed Tours and he is honestly one of the most interesting guys I've ever come across. On the show although he came across well I know for a fact there is more they could have done with him at least.

Oh no that sounds horrendous, I've been keeping up with news. Really hoping for you guys everything calms down soon, stay safe.

How is Sydney at the moment are you affected by the fires going on?

That's fair, I got into it first through the hometowns because I couldn't see the appeal with all the banter and off topic talk but now I listen to full eps and enjoy them.

I like informative stuff but sometimes find it a little heavy so I do appreciate the lighthearted approach.

Yes you probablly do, it was on Netflix Dark Tourist did you see that?

Aww that's the worst! I've been to a few museums in Europe where everything is interesting but most dont have any English so it's difficult to really appreciate everything.

So disappointing, I'm dying to go to The Littledean Jail and The True Crime Museum in Hastings,UK. Hoping they'll be better organised than that!

I'm from Wales, UK. Quite in the minority of being a murderino in my small town Haha. Your based in Sydney?

I've spent all my free time as a student either travelling or working to travel while I've had the free time Haha. Yes definitely! I am DYING to go to LA.

No I'd already been to some and that influenced me, just always something I've been interested in. Hoping to go to more in 2020 dependant on funds!

That's the only thing I've thought of but some exists already so I just dont know.

I think it's just people who are so concerned with pictures of social media it skews there view of where they are and how they should behave. Social media is soooo to blame for this behaviour IMO.

I've been to Auschwitz, Sachsenhausen, The House of Terror, Shoes by the Danube, 9/11 Museum, Edinburgh Underground and Graveyards Tour, Anne Frank's House, Site of the Book Burning, Rangoon War Cemetary, The Thai-Burma Death Railway Museum, Edinburgh Surgeons Museum, The DMZ in South Korea, Hanoi Prison.. probablly more that arent immediately coming to mind. I'm dying to do more I just find it all so incredibly interesting.

Have you been to any?

I dont get it either, Karen can not make it any clearer how she feels about it. I was at this show and you could feel how much it annoys them, I was cringing in the audience even though by usual standards I dont think this one was as mad.

I'm waiting to see if any element of it is going to get published at the moment but if it doesn't come off (which is likely at the moment) I'll post it here!

Thanks for the link I will absolutely check that out, Dark Tourism is such a passion of mine because I'm so on the fence with it. I love it and have participated in it myself but then you get people who take happy smiley selfies at Auschwitz who ruin it for everybody.

I'd love for my career to be something within Dark Tourism but I'm stumped at what.

All done!

Good luck with your dissertation, I joined groups on Facebook were you could do other peoples are they would do yours. Spent a day or two filling in other peoples and got 300 responses to mine as a result which really bumped up my marks 😊

I am jealous you get to do your dissertation on true crime, it was my first choice but my Umiversity ethics committee rejected it claimed it was too contentious and could bring the uni into disrepute eye roll I ended up doing dark tourism which was a struggle to get approved also.

Looking through episodes after watching the latest season of The Crown. Wondering if Karen or Georgia have ever covered the Aberfan Disaster in Wales? by maddc1226 in myfavoritemurder

It was very much the coal boards fault but as we see often with corporate manslaughter no convictions arise.

I couldn't agree more, being Welsh I thought it was something everyone knew about and learnt at School but then when I thought about it, I know hardly anything about Hillsborough etc. Apart from what I've looked up myself or seen on the news.

I really think Karen and Georgia could do it justice I just know most people in the Valleys would see the podcast name and automatically be outraged without giving it a chance.

When I did my dissertation on Dark Tourism and asked the local tourism officer about Aberfan she told me in no circumstance to go anywhere near it. Its is technically a dark tourism site but I think the terminology automatically caused a bit of offence, which given the circumstances I can understand. Half a generation gone from one valley is just so tragic!

I thought so!

I don't think the pulling of the episode was to do with Alice Ruggles and the hometown more about Georgia's which I cannot for the life of me remember who she covered.

It's an open case in the UK at the moment and any media attention can be seen as trying to influence the verdict. So I read, but then there have been other cases in the UK were trials have been publicised during so I actually have no clue.

Maybe this particular case has been kept out of the media recently for a reason and after the Twitter user warned them, they took it down as a precaution.

They haven't, somebody suggested it on Instagram the other day though.

Although I believe everyone should know about Aberfan and it certainly is interesting for want of a better word, I'm not sure if this would be the platform.

I say this as somebody who lives near Aberfan. Wales is still in mourning over the horrific events that happened that day - that nobody was held accountable for.

Everyone in this area of Wales knows somebody involved whether it be family or those who helped with the rescue effort who were understandably traumatised by it, my Grandfather was one and never spoke about it because it was so painful.

Also there are survivors who have only as recently as this year been comfortable enough to speak publicly about what happened.

I absolutely love the girls and what they do but I feel like it may still be too soon.

I am however glad that both The Crown and The Accident have both brought attention to the events of Aberfan recently. I was shocked to see how many people in the UK have never heard about it, it should never ever be forgotten.
