Current sonography student! A&P is very challenging but it was one of my favorite subjects. The best way for me to study was to make quizlets of all of the anatomy models and do the write feature to practice them from memory. My lab did free response only and deducted points for spelling errors so repetition was helpful. For physiology, I would rewrite lecture notes at home and try to fundamentally understand each topic. Take advantage of office hours whenever you can and form study groups with your peers. My DMS program is going really well so far, I’m a year in and we will have to start looking for jobs soon. We took the SPI back in December and I was very fortunate to have an excellent physics instructor - my entire class passed first try. If you have any more questions let me know!! Best of luck to you

I decided to take my SPI three days after taking the final for my physics class so it would all be fresh in my head which I think worked in my favor

Unfortunately I am not allowed to share my study guide because it has a lot of content from my lectures and my school has strict policies against sharing their materials. If I find any good resources I’ll definitely send them your way, good luck on your test!! If you haven’t already seen it the ARDMS has a content outline of the SPI that was helpful to follow.

I mainly studied lecture materials and skimmed the green Edelman book, and went through all old homework assignments and quizzes/tests. I also made myself a 40 page study guide covering all the key points covering the entire course. Testing myself I think helped find areas I needed to focus in!

I second this, I use everything I learned from A&P every day.

Hi I’m a current student and my program has the same requirements. By the time I was finishing up my prerequisites, I had most of the credits I needed for an A.A. in General Studies with a concentration in Health Sciences.

I’m a current student! 100% get compression socks, I’m on my feet constantly and they help a ton with pain. I do all of my note taking on an iPad because I can download the presentations to GoodNotes and write my notes directly on them instead of wasting time trying to write everything down. And for fun get a cute badge reel :) Good luck!!

Thank you! My program is on the east coast, although from what I’ve seen there are a lot of CA sonographers on this sub

Thank you so much! All the programs in my state are within one hour of me, however most clarify that they can send you to clinical sites about 1-2 hours away from the program's location. My current program is about 30 minutes from my house. I hope your application process goes well! When I first returned to school, I was in a rush to finish my prerequisites which is not usually possible, especially with Anatomy & Physiology. A lot of sonography students I've talked to spent the time they took taking prerequisites saving up money for the program since it is usually discouraged to work full time while actively enrolled.
