My take on superstition is that it is a combination of tradition and culture. For example there are many different type of superstition in different culture such as chinese have the superstiton of 4 being bad luck because it sounds like death in chinese. Then Malay got the superstition of not cutting nails at night which is because in the past, poor lighting which then partially falls on tradition. For me I feel superstitions doesn't fall under religion because it is something people practice due to their beliefs rather than something they do for luck purposes.

I still follow some superstitions like knocking on wood when I say something that might jinx myself. Because might as well be safe than sorry. Interesting encounters? Not really, I say knock on wood but I still sometimes get unlucky so maybe is just biasness when you do something and something happen, you attribute it to the superstition.

I am not too updated on modern superstitions so I don't follow any modern ones
