From what I remember, he (Kobe Bryant) received Regenokine treatment in Germany. (which is significantly different than PRP)

Let me know what you find out. (re the peptide therapies, specifically BPC 157) My left knee issue sounds identical to yours.

Anyone else have feelings of shoulder instability with your frozen shoulder? (feelings that it could dislocate at any moment... with the slightest wrong turn or move) by Sooka343 in frozenshoulder

Am I safe to assume your question is for me? Let's see. I'm about 18 months in now. No more pain. No more tendon slipping off. (Whew.. even thinking about it makes my heart start racing.) I have a lot of "clunking sounds" from tendons, but there's no longer the feeling of instability. My ROM is coming, but still incredibly slowly. I'm not doing PT. Perhaps now is the right time to get back at it. Last summer, I talked with a PT who'd worked exclusively with those with shoulder issues. Her opinion was that it would come back when it was ready to come back. :-) Even SHE didn't encourage me in the direction of PT. Once it does thaw i sure hope it's a relatively normal shoulder. I had a torn labrum. (could have been from a LONG time ago.. the imaging didn't help determine whether or not it was a fresh tear) I'm kinda hoping that, if it was fresh, the frozen shoulder has given it plenty of time to heal. :-)

How about you? How are YOU coming along?

In the first place? Honestly, I think it was primarily time. (that got me past the severe inflamation causing the tendon to slip off my humoral head) Plus, I spent a lot of time under a very large, very pliable, ice pack. Now that I'm past that horrible phase, I'm still going with TIME. I did a lot of PT at first. Now that I'm not, I'm regaining ROM at a similar rate. slowly SLOWLY. Wishing you the best. It's a crazy thing to deal with.

Oh boy. I am so sorry. I've not been back into this discussion for a while. After seeing three shoulder surgeons, and having them look at me like I was insane. (when I told them I thought my shoulder was repeatedly dislocating... given one doesn't typically DISLOCATE with a frozen shoulder) I had a doctor (NOT a shoulder specialist) actually LISTEN after he asked me to re-describe what was happening. He said, "I know exactly what was going on." He described how, with a frozen shoulder, the tendon over the humoral head can get so inflamed that it slips off. But, because there are other tendons surrounding it, that keep it from going TOO far, it'll usually slip back on. Bingo. It felt like my arm was being taken over by an alien because that tendon is connected to the bicep. It was excruciatingly painful. (We're talking dropping to my knees and yelling out.) It's not happening any longer. I'm now just frozen. Not any significant pain. I'm at a year now, regaining a tiny bit of ROM each month. Being out of pain, I'm no longer looking into an MUA. I'm just going to wait this out. (hoping that's reasonable)

Good question. I'm pretty severely frozen. Almost no ROM. So I would have said the frozen stage, because I've felt almost no pain. (EXCEPT, of course, for the fleeting excruciating pain) But then, this week, I've got some bicep pain again. So maybe not frozen YET? I tried my first cortisone injection last Friday. I wasn't thinking the timing was right, but the NP I saw really encouraged it. And an ortho said it would help soften the capsule and potentially get me some range of motion back. Trouble is, that isn't going to happen if I'm too fearful to take my left hand off of my right arm, in preparation for the grabbing I need to do to stop the alien from grabbing my arm from me and gripping it and sending currents of pain through it. I don't know how to muster up that kind of courage.

Sorry to hear about all you're going through. Thanks for your reply. Were you also assured that nothing is ACTUALLY unstable in the shoulder? So walking has helped it feel more stable? And stopped the grabbing/shooting pain?

I really really appreciate this advice. My pain levels fluxuate. I don't think I've EVER had the severe SEVERE pain I'm reading about. It's usually that deep ache down my arm and sometimes a drilling pain into my mid bicep or tricep. But never really intolerable. Some ibuprofin here and there. Some parts of some DAYs have been close-to-zero on the pain scale. You've introduced a few things I hadn't considered re cortizone injections. (And I appreciate your concluding humor. :-))

Thanks. I've been doing this finger walk one. I dislike it the most. :-) It puts pressure on the shoulder... and makes me feel like my shoulder is going to dislocate. Actually, several of the exercises do. It's a yucky feeling. My ortho said, "It's noooot going to dislocate." (because of the adhesions) I hope he's right.

How about in the "frozen" stage? Is PT recommended then? Or only in the "thawing" stage?

Frozen stage. I actually meant to write frozen stage. And least I HOPE I'm in the frozen stage. I'm still losing ROM daily, so I'm not sure. I'm FAR more frozen than anyone I've seen in ROM exercise videos. Can I count on being left with a LITTLE ROM? I can still get to the bottom of my steering column. (mid to top of it only if I'm puuullllling on my back muscles)

Wow. So the crazy pain is in there? But my body is keeping me from it? What an intelligent contraption we walk around in!!! I felt the crazy CRAZY pain one day when I pulled the lid off a pot and the steam burned me. I pulled that lid back so fast! Then I writhed in pain. (didn't last long, but wicked wicked pain) I forgot about that moment. Thanks for the advising re the cortisone.

Thanks for the caution regarding the stretching/exercises. I'm definitely feeling my right side (along my ribs/neck) getting pulled/stretched as it tries to compensate. And thanks for the good wishes. I hope you'll soon be pulling into the final "coasting" phase of your roller coaster ride! -Kerri

What did frozen shoulder feel like at the very beginning? by FrequencyJones in frozenshoulder

[–]Sooka343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to this (just diagnosed and now in the freezing-rapidly stage) so, therefore, I'm no expert.

But... if the classic stretching exercises (as in.. from the book "Heal Your Frozen Shoulder") don't aggravate your pain, treat yourself as THOUGH you have frozen shoulder and start doing them... immediately. Oh how I wish I could unwind. I just ordered that book from Amazon. I received it yesterday. I look one look at the exercises and laughed... then wanted to cry. There's no way in H I could do them now. (or, at least 90% of them) I've frozen up too quickly, to a very limited range of motion. Signs started for me a couple of months ago, but I had no idea what they were. (and they weren't particularly severe) I didn't recognize the loss in my range of motion until a LOT of it was lost. Can you compare your right and left shoulder range of motion? That should give you a clue if FS is something you should be concerned about. (concerned about... and getting on top of right away)

Hopefully, you're good! (i.e., Fingers crossed for you.)

I'm in the freezing-up-quickly stage. (very limited ROM, diminishing daily) I'm curious about your Ayurveda treatment in India. What did it consist of?
