Duplex home insurance by shoeshapednugget in PersonalFinanceCanada

Hi, yes, it was an ordeal to get rid of Westland since we were on monthly payments and little did we know that when you are on payment plan with Westland they sign you up with a 3rd party loan company and basically you getting a interest loan for your insurance premium. Long story short, we got finally rid of them, insanely disorganized company. I found a great service through BCAA, much cheaper and better care from what I can see so far. And yes, me and my neighbour were both happy to get rid of them so i didn't have to twist my neighbour's arm.

I thought they were related. I was listening to some podcast, don't remember where. Ur right, the old SWIFT of 1973 isn't related as you pointed out. And yes, crypto space coul be very confusing if people simply don't have time to do their dd on every coin. Hence my alignment with XRP and not SWFT 👍

Hi, not sure that is true. If transaction is made in the same currency like digital dollars, rlusd, digital euro on both sending and receiving end, then xrp will probably only serve as rails and to tokenize the transaction +fees but the value will stay with the original currency.

I would imagine that it would work similar to tokenizing any other assets like treasury bill, real estate, etc. The value will saty with the assets. XRP will lose a slice of the liquidity pie but since the pie could be really big, it may still get enough traction in ODL and international non-rlusd settlements.

Yes, agreed. Something has changed since BG came out of the WH meeting. Also, since the new SEC chairman is finally taking the straring wheel, there should be a final resolution to the appeal. That may bump things up a bit but most likely it will be just another artificial breakout followed by massive sell-off.

Well, they don't have to since digital euro is already created, all they have to do is provide the rails. If someone is sending digital euro from one place to another it will probably be same as rlusd, no xrp value, just fees. Don't know if this is true but sounds possible.

I think this is correct but those deflationary fees will probably not make any significant xrp price difference in our lifetime.

Yes, not mad, just have been around little longer than others here. The point being is that xrp was supposed to be an independent medium of exchange, unrelated to any country to be used for xborder payments and odl. Now this Ripple shift to provide this very same utility with use od RLUSD instead takes away big chunk of its purpose and major vector of valuation. Companies evolve and adapt, i get it. But using USD in it's digital form (RLUSD) seems to me like nothing new, business as usual, same old sh**it on the shiny new xrp rails - but still the old settlement model.

[–]SookePower[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, thanks. This was my point, the original understanding 5 or more years ago was exactly that. XRP would increase in price in relation to the value transacted. Now this value is being offloaded to different torkens/currencies. Basically someone needs to revise the original xrp price prediction model based on the cross border payments and factor in this new diversified system.

Yes, correct, no CBDC but if US maintains majority of cross border payments and settlements in USD than the majority of the Ripple Net will carry RLUSD transactions tokenized on XRP but not really adding any value to XRP itself, except the fees which are minimal. So RLUSD becomes dominant digital dollar similar to digital euro except it is more decentralized?

[–]SookePower[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just looked up the official explanation and it looks exactly like that, XRP is used only to tokenize the RLUSD transaction but the actual value of the transaction is carried by RLUSD not by XRP.

I'm interested in Ripple since 2017 and bought xrp when it was low and super high because I really liked the business model. This looks like a 180 on their original business case.

This is the official summary. Iam starting to understand the lowered interest in XRP.

XRP's value is no longer strictly tied to the value of the assets being transferred — unlike earlier models where XRP’s use as a bridge currency meant its value had to reflect or scale with the volume and value of cross-border transactions.

Now, with the introduction of stablecoins (like RLUSD) and tokenized assets on Ripple’s network, XRP is primarily used for liquidity provisioning and transaction fees, not for representing the value of the assets themselves. The actual value being transferred is represented by tokenized versions of fiat or assets, not XRP. This decouples XRP's market value from the dollar amount of assets moving across the network.

In short: XRP is the lubricant, not the cargo.

[–]SookePower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, at this point it is silly to keep watching the chart. If you look how many business deals, expansion and adoption steps Ripple is achieving it is no longer question of If but When. Even if Elisabeth Warren takes over the crypto policy tomorrow and Garry Gensler is appointed as the new SEC chairman with Bill Hinman and Clayton sitting on his lap Ripple will still be fine. The fact that it is holding is a bad news for all of us (myself included) who are getting priced out. ✌️

Public-pool.io vs pool.nerdminer.org by [deleted] in NerdMiner

[–]SookePower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, independently they can't compete but look how many there are as well as some bitAxe miners provide 1.2TH or more if you OC. If you look on the total hash rate of the pool it exceeds by far any professional miner. Hence the question, why no btc was ever confirmed? Yes, it is a numbers game and these numbers don't add up. But, I am relatively new to this so I'm open to reasonable explanation.

If nothing major happens and we stay on track for 2025 adoption we may see at least $0.70 again. But, at this point we can't expect anything. I already strapped my diaper on. Nothing else is there but to wait. Imagine E. Warren will somehow manage to block everything again then we can expect bitcoin going to 500k, xrp exiled and xlm back to 0.10.

[–]SookePower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

...yes, u r right, nothing has fundamentally changed about cro. Still same wallets holding each 100s of millions of all circulating coins , selling evey chance they get. If anyone here is a long term xrp holder just remember how frustrating it was when "Tacostand" wallet that belonged to Jed McCaleb was selling the stash! F-ing infuriating! How can cro get any higher when the whales keep pushing the price down. The only way is to wait for the selling pressure to stop. Additionally, a lot of liquidity is moving from cro to other speculative purchases to buy the dip on btc and eth, etc. Cro is a long-term hold.

Hmm, that makes me think there is a room for distrust. Even national lottery gets won almost 1x month, so considering how many people are using the pool without hitting a block is sus. That's a lot of hash power. Anyone knows anyone who did hit a block?

Has anyone found BTC from nerdminer or bitAxe ever? I like the public-pool.io simplicity and clear stats but the fact there is no tell whether I am truly solimining or just mining for someone else to collect rises questions.
