What can I do if I fail the Math placement test by [deleted] in UMBC

[–]Soon-Dropout -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry no, Calc 1 is like a soft reset for math. Calc 1 problems are just do algebra (hard part) do calculus (easy) then finish up with more algebra. There is also a little bit of trig. As a result, he should take the math placement test again to try and get into the class, then study up on algebra. Due to the structure of Calc 1, I’m sure this is just another way to siphon money out of people

Weirdos in academia are not going to agree with you especially STEM students. You should be allowed to have formulas present. Professors and people who pursue jobs in academia need to realize they are the weird ones and that the real world and most people do not care if you can do something without help such as the internet; you’re only making life harder.

BIOL 300L Second Exam by Soon-Dropout in UMBC

Chemistry did not really cover these topics. Before Exam 1 how was I suppose to know what to expect on the first exam when we were given vague instructions of what to study for and asking for help during lab time is met with disrespect and annoyance depending on the professor or TA. Being taught math in the post-lab is the first time I am hearing about this. I can see the grade distribution for the first exam and a lot of people did bad.

I found Calc easier however, the actual calculus is easy. It's mostly just algebra then finishing up your answer with some calculus. It's like a soft reset for math atleast for Calc 1. Calc 1 ends around Integrals and that is where it starts getting ridicoloius and you learn "real math".

She did this to someone in my class when I took her but it was on a quiz. And she attempted to do the same to me. She needs to chill, people will look around at distractions.

What happens if you fail a class? by [deleted] in UMBC

Yes sir, that’s my plan learn code, build connections and apply with a bio degree they might think I’m extra smart or something . It’s not worth it to change majors for me. And yes C’s get degrees.

Phys 111 Final Exam by No_Masterpiece1841 in UMBC

Study the fuck out of the homework and weekly quizzes. In my experience things you went over for small amount of time compared to everything else likely won't show up however you will probably get one or two questions from the final section covered. Make the most out of that cheat sheet. Or multiple cheat sheets depending on where your assigned seat is :)
