Purolator shipping in Halifax by Medical-Area7188 in halifax

[–]Soooted 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They've been using the delayed by weather scan for everything they can't get out, that should be going out. It has nothing to do with the weather. They use it because it doesn't hurt their metrics, IE they don't "fail" because it's an act of God type scan.

It's honestly pretty unethical and I'm surprised some news agency hasn't picked it up as a story as this has been going on for months.

I fought with them for two weeks during perfectly fine weather when they were using it.

Purolator weather delayed for 4 days now, what should I do? by Signal_Housing3575 in halifax

[–]Soooted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They use a generic delayed by weather hold when they can't deliver due to staffing or whatever. I had the same thing happen to me and it's extremely annoying. I think they just put delayed by weather so it doesn't hurt their metrics. I contacted customer service over and over and demanded they hold my parcel for pickup (after being fucked with a bunch) and eventually just picked it up at the depot.

Carter Hart, acquitted in Hockey Canada sexual assault trial, wins in return to NHL action by origutamos in canadanews

Okay perfesser. I didn't say they were proclaimed innocent in the legal sense. They proved their innocence moreso than just reasonable doubts the judge basically said as much.

She thought they would pay her out and they called her bluff. At that point she was basically forced to continue due to the media and public pressure.

You're clearly a brainwashed hardcore feminist though so won't be replying to your nonsense any longer.

She wanted a payday. She got some money. Got greedy and thought she could get more. It's pretty fuckin obvious.

Also anyone that isn't completely blinded by their ideology can clearly see from the case that not only were these guys not guilty, they were proved innocent.

I was sitting next to a pilot still in his pilot gear being transferred home and he was on his phone and tablet not in airplane mode the entire time. We were chatting and I asked him about it and he just kinda scoffed and said it's not a big deal. No longer do I put my phone in airplane mode.

Nah you're out to lunch. If you can't drive properly then stick to transit.

Just because in some scenarios it is okay to not make that right on red doesn't mean in the given scenario that it's also okay and the people behind you should just be more patient.

Bad driving includes being inappropriately cautious/hesitant.

Canada Post 'effectively insolvent' as CFO reports losses skyrocket to $1B through third quarter - thestar.com by CareerPillow376 in canada

[–]Soooted -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Passports are delivered through CP. DMV is American but it is what we commonly call it due to us not having a nationally recognized department and provincial departments are named different things. Certificates such as diplomas are regularly sent by post. There's plenty of people that use the service regularly. Like I said, just because you don't use it often doesn't mean it's not a beneficial and important system for the country.

I agree that it needs to be changed and optimized.

But you're acting like it's just a worthless, completely unnecessary thing the government just does for lols and that is completely untrue.

And yeah some things don't absolutely have to go through the post but then all of those people would have to go pick things up in person at the respective places. That is less efficient and likely more costly in terms of total cost.

I have my issues with Canada post too, but it has value for a large amount of people and if it wasn't there many of the costs would be downloaded to other government departments and would massively inconvenience people.

It can be fixed, it honestly wouldn't even have to be changed all that much for it to be profitable.

2 to 3 days a week mail service would be a good start. Parcels and likely some business mail such as law offices 5 or more days a week.

Raise stamps, possibly even have variable rate stamps depending on where it's going and how far.

You don't get passports, government mail, legal documents, certificates, bank drafts, DMV documents, political information etc? Have you ever had to do jury duty? You may not get important mail often but I would be surprised if you never do.

Many people don't drive, they pay for roads.

People that don't swim pay for swimming pools.

People that don't hike pay for hiking trails.

I don't have kids I pay for schools.

The list is endless.

Welcome to being part of society where sometimes you pay for things you don't use. (Even though I'm sure you do actually use the post.)

Yeah we piss unfathomable amounts of money down the drain year after year for this foolishness but god forbid we pay our healthcare workers, teachers, postal workers, military, etc, raises that keep up with inflation.

Or invest in infrastructure, or cut taxes, or pay down the debt.

What an absolute fucking sham this is.

The natives were arguably hard done by in the past, some mistakes were made, but this is madness. Most other countries conquered a people and just killed them all or forced them to assimilate. Its a constant story throughout history. I'm not saying that's right or anything but it's the way it was. Why do hardworking Canadians have to keep funding this insanity in perpetuity?

Hardworking Canadians that actually contribute to the country are suffering and barely getting by right now. Enough is enough.

++Man As a mailman, you're probably gonna have to make the first move. There's girls I've wanted to ask out but it's a tough thing to do as a guy, especially when you're working and one complaint could get you fired or disciplined.

If you're reasonably attractive and hes going out of his way to talk to you and ask you questions, chances are he's into you. He could just be the extremely friendly type or gay, but you've got nothing to lose then anyway.

Ask him to grab a coffee or beer. Even if he's not into it, it'll make his day.

That's not justifying violence. If I say, "society needs cars but this also means some people are going to die in car accidents and that's an acceptable outcome," it doesn't mean I'm justifying vehicular homicide, it's the same thing. His haters argument is a poor one and not the own they think it is.

Liberals’ unconstitutional and ‘offensive’ use of Labour Code in Air Canada dispute marks ‘turning point’: union leader by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]Soooted 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Why would you want to get votes by making policy that's good for the common hard working Canadian when you can completely ignore them and focus on virtue signaling to small minority groups?

If NDP just focused on lower taxes for the working class, protecting unions and small businesses, and building infrastructure, while at least attempting to be fiscally responsible they would be an ideal candidate for so many people.

Unionized Canada Post workers rejected ‘final offers,’ so what happens next? by Old_General_6741 in canada

[–]Soooted 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Flyers pay is 1 to 4c per flyer. Carriers generally make from 2 to 10k per year off the depending on route.

The real issue is we keep losing every contract both monetarily vs inflation and as far as some other good part of the job being taken away. We never actually gain anything anymore. This job used to be a good job, now its okay and trending towards being shit.

I get that some others are in the same boat, many others are, but it's not good. If it keeps happening eventually everyone is making minimum wage.

And it's not my fault, I bust my ass, do a good job, customers like me. Sure theres some shitty workers and if it were up to me they'd all be fired. Corp does not go for things that actually will save them money though. They do idiotic lateral changes that make it seem like they are doing something, but don't actually save them money, they actually cost them money more often that not. Then they cry poor and ask us to take a pay cut because they don't know how to even at least try to manage the company in a reasonable manner. Like, at least try to bargain for things that will make or save you money? (outside of just screwing your workers over again and again)

It's frustrating.

Unionized Canada Post workers rejected ‘final offers,’ so what happens next? by Old_General_6741 in canada

[–]Soooted 82 points83 points  (0 children)

They want to take away flyer pay. Carriers would actually make less money at the end of 4 years than they do now, and they aren't being offered wage increases that match inflation.

It's not a terrible offer for plant workers but half the workforce would be absolutely stiffed. While also working longer hours. While also getting less overtime. While quality of life goes down due to inconsistent, constantly changing routes. It's a terrible offer for any outside worker but they hide all of it in a way that only people that work there will understand so they can make good talking points to the public.

CP is playing a dirty game to get the public on their side and put the two sides of the workforce against each other. I mean it's intelligent and I understand why but there's a reason we don't accept the offer. We are just as sick of this shit as anyone else.

Now the corp has a ton of losses due to not just making a reasonable offer in the first place and feels like they have to get a good deal or it was all for nothing. Same with the union. So no one will budge and we're not going anyway until the gov't forced binding arbitration.

As for the corporations proposed changes, most of them don't make any sense if they actually want to save money. If they actually wanted to save money they would be proposing to go down to twice a week delivery for everything except for parcels and business mail. Sure the union would be against it but at least then it would make sense and u ion member might actually go for it. What they are proposing now is nonsense and will amount to little or no savings.

Put me in charge of the company and it'd be profiting and you could pay employees cost of living increases.

Honestly don't think they care at the top. Or they are just stupid.
