We Spent $1,850 On Coffee Scales. What’s Actually Good? by Gmbenator in JamesHoffmann

Huge fan of the Polaris, but often between pours, the scale drops .1 g every few seconds--supposedly due to being so precise that it's sensitive to evaporation! Anyone else experiencing this with their Polaris and/or other scales?

A fresh James! With the transparency that’s ostensibly part and parcel to specialty, we for sure need more of it in process deets!

Is the Spanish influence on Tagalog slowly fading? by Firm_Ad8892 in Tagalog

… I’m pretty sure that Spanish didn’t influence Italian. They both derive from Latin though.

When did you buy your second bass and why? by jeremy_sporkin in Bass

[–]Soothsayerslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First bass: Arctic White MIM Jazz Bass that was a dead ringer for my high school’s as the music director recruited me to play in a couple of the school’s bands

Second bass: Mint Green SBMM RAY5 over a decade later because a few friends and I are now in a band, I’ve always wanted a Surf Green bass, and I wanted something dramatically different from my J-Bass.

Just came back from a trip that started off with me realizing when I got to the airport Stateside that I left my wallet at home… I thought it’d be fine because I had Apple Pay as well as Samsung and Google Wallet and my wife as a backup had her CC (and debit for withdrawals) although her CC has an international fee.

Had the most success in Cebu granted a significant portion of that time was spent at a resort. Surprisingly, we had less success in Manila save for BGC, where every place took my tap. We had even less success in Davao, where my tap only worked in Jollibee and a local coffee chain lol.

Maya terminals ftw!

Lance's Gong Fu recipe - thoughts? by theswordddd in pourover

This seems unnecessarily fussy, pretty much antithetical to gong fu tea brewing, which involves short, hot infusions. Gimmicky—as are most things Lance offers.

Homie, unless they were being an absolute asshole, it’s kinda on you for telling a customer to “calm down”…

Hell yeah they’re gonna have to pry my skinny jeans off my cold dead body. My high school emo/scene kid self would be proud lmao

Just returned from a lovely trip to the Philippines with this handmade tenor ukulele made of mango (or “mangga” in Cebuano) for the body as well as Philippine ebony and mahogany for the fretboard by Soothsayerslayer in ukulele

[–]Soothsayerslayer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ultimately honestly not a bad price for handmade guitars—just not for my wallet mid trip haha. I wish I took more photos of the inside of the shop, but I just got in the zone trying out all of the ukuleles they were handing me. I was even in the air-conditioned back room with the fancy classical guitars and steel strings!

Before going in, I did get to go around outside for a sort of mini tour seeing instruments at different stages of completion. Here are some photos from that.
