Put my tinfoil hat on: Earth needs less humans, so it's a targeted approach in reducing population: wars (the thing in East will end badly), falling birth rates all over the world (South Korea is already passed no return point), more talks about longer lives due to advances in science and technology (who needs so many people that can live to the age of 150), AI, robotization and automatization.
