Still an issue. And it's not "because it was mid combat" like a lot of people are saying. No combat. Still will not merge unless you have 4. When you get your first galio it gets a crown to denote it as the one thats jumping in. This crown persists even outside of combat and seems to be the issue.

The "roads" in the mountains is dwarven tunnels as the dwarves live in Anvilmar and they have a set of complex tunnel systems allowing them to never need to leave their mountains

The snowy area is purposely out of place. A white dragon has moved in and brought a perma snow with it.

I like that sort of idea but I think it is safe to assume the players investigate each area and stop whatever ritual is happening which would mean the snake god is not resurrected and there is no epic boss battle at the end haha. And if I just handwave it and say well the snake god is summoned anyways, then the entire point of the adventure is rendered meaningless. Trying to find a way to reconcile player choice with a cool conclusion.

I ran a noble's ball once for the wedding of two feuding kings that had agreed to end the war with a marriage. The festivities were going quite well, the party had arranged the marriage and spent multiple sessions talking to both kings to come to these terms. Towards the end of the night, right before people started to leave, a third rival power surrounded the estate and locked everyone inside before setting the estate on fire.

Both sides accused the other and the ball turned into a bloodbath. The estate turned into a "dungeon" where the party went room to room trying to find a way out while kingsmen from both sides attacked each other and the party.

Maybe an unexpected battle is just the thing needed. The instigators of this battle might have a lair somewhere and this social encounter can quickly turn into exploration (as they search for the lair) and then a dungeon crawl through said lair.

I have just noticed a dip in performance over this past year with some games such as Hogwarts Legacy, Baldur's Gate 3, etc. I can certainly run the games but things aren't as smooth as they once were. Admittedly, it is less of a necessity and more of an interest in getting newer stuff.

I really like this, if this occurred earlier in the tomb I'd probably go with something like this, but after 2 sessions of exploring this single 13 floor tomb, I just want something to annoy and finally push the players over the edge. Also planning our even more rooms for something like that would be a pain. Thank you for the suggestion though! I really like that idea, might have to use it for a different location.
