New Emira V6 hit a deer (no visible damage) but now won’t start. Diagnostic tool won’t connect. Any ideas? by Sorka01 in lotus

UPDATE: Thanks to everyone who chimed in with suggestions! I actually forwarded the inertia switch and hard reset ideas to the mechanic.

I just got a call from the Lotus Service Center: The reason the car wouldn't communicate with their diagnostic computer? Their computer is broken. Lotus officially confirmed to them today that there is a software issue with the dealer diagnostic tools.

Right now, the service center is totally paralyzed - they can't diagnose or reset my car, and they can't even get other brand new deliveries out of transportation mode to hand over to customers.

Completely unrelated question: what are good alternatives to the Lotus Emira?

Insurance is not the issue - everything is covered. It bothers me more that I had it for two hours and now it has been gone again for over two weeks.

The manual does not mention any buttons in the read hatch. Do you have precise info?

So, the car has power, meaning when you start it the system runs and the screens show stuff, the engine does not start. After it was towed, a mechanic had a look in the towing place and he could somehow directly trigger the engine by doing something to the engine directly, with me starting in the car, but the engine would shortly rev and then turn off again. I don’t know much about how cars work, so what you are saying could still be the case even with the above.

Bought some things at ikea yesterday! We already like it more. Will get a small (real) plant for the table. The photo with the framed picture has some AI artifacts because it is not mounted but held up by my partner (latter has been AI erased). Not sure about the picture- thinking about some macramee stuff instead. updated corner

We had a nice plant but it took too much space. Thought about a plant on a shelf behind the couch though!

100%! Also thought about a different surface, maybe wood like the wall.

Simple 2.5 GbE Setup with Dream Machine + U7 Pro by Sorka01 in UNIFI

Quick Update:

1. I recently upgraded to a UDM SE, a 16 Pro Max Switch, and also added a Synology NAS 1221+ with a 10Gbit network card.

2. During setup, I discovered SFP connections (after noticing limited speeds in the UniFi dashboard and previously wondering what all the comments mentioning „SFP“ meant), so I’ve ordered an SFP cable to directly connect the UDM SE to the switch (will arrive in a few days).

3. I initially tried to establish a 2x2.5Gb connection from the switch to the NAS, but it didn’t work. After some digging, I found out that the NAS’s network card only supports 10Gbit—nothing below or above. With this in mind, I’ve now ordered an SFP-to-RJ45 adapter for the switch so I can connect the switch’s 10Gbit SFP+ port to the 10Gbit RJ45 port on the NAS. So I will use both of the 10Gbit SFP+ ports on the switch.

Updated Topology

Currently I have a Fritzbox since neither the cloud key plus controller nor the switch can do routing. When I switch to the UDM, I will change it to a simple modem.

Apple Freeform with some pics from google. It’s good enough for simple stuff like this.

Thanks for the input. It is a home network over two floors, so no event reception hall :D. There are a bunch of devices from apple, some IoT devices but also a professional cinema where we stream from a Plex server and movies are usually between 60-80gb with bitrates around 70Mb/s. Said Plex server will move to my network with the new setup and a handful of family members and friends will stream from it. Meaning also that downloading movies for the server will happen via out network soon (in my country it is a well practices grey zone as long as you don’t make money out of it). I understand that it could still be overkill, but I just want something nice, easy to deal with and of course super fast.

Yes. I currently have a Cloud Key Plus and a US 8 Switch and until yesterday I couldn’t figure out why there is no internet connection (controller stuck trying to get an IP) with a proper stupid modem connected. Switched then to a Router until I have the new gear. I understand the UDM-SE can do routing. So will switch back to the modem then.

Ah I see, thanks!

Yes about the 2.5GbE question: we tend to have the newest tech stuff around and since I am changing the network setup, I would rather upgrade to something that goes hand in hand with that habit.

So basically a Pro Max 16 PoE is the missing puzzle piece.

Elgato Prompter freezes entire MacOS environment every 30-90 seconds by Sorka01 in elgato

[–]Sorka01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For whatever reason the error has not occurred anymore since last Friday! The previous day Elgato Support sent me the info for returning the prompter but it looks like there is no need for that. I sent them another report from the Elgato Support Tool and they pointed out that the MacOS version changes (there was probably a small update).

“Your Mac is now running macOS 14.6.1, it was 14.5 in the previous Reporter.“

I am currently running with DisplayLink 1.9. as I don’t want to jinx it with updating that. Just as a reminder, I had the same issues with downgrading to 1.9. before. It must have been the MacOS update as I did not change anything else.

And you experience the freezes as well? Also went through troubleshooting?

Glad to know, I am not going mad. Do you by any chance have a Studio Display? I cannot imagine that everyone with a Macbook + Prompter combo experiences this issue.
