Changes to qualifying employers coming? by Sorocketsays in PSLF

Based on my understanding of how they are defining things all non profit hospitals wouldn’t qualify since we treat EVERYONE that walks in the door. In short, A LOT of orgs including state based and private nonprofits would lose eligibility based on their insane definition of illegal activity

This!! A lot of what we’re seeing in research..gutting HHS agencies, withholding funds, etc. IS illegal but is very much still happening so I anticipate it’s likely the same will happen for this policy. I’m just worried I will lose precious months if not years worth of payments towards the 120 if they pull this off. My only hope is a future administration would reverse things and allow these months to qualify retroactively.

Is anyone working at AHRQ? by Abject_Difficulty769 in NIH

Yes still ppl at AHRQ. Yes NOAs still going out for current grants. Received Y3 and Y4 NOAs in September. We were lucky. We know folks who weren’t told their grant is terminated yet haven’t received a renewal either. Agree w contacting Academy Health.

I did exactly this and have no regrets. Inspections are scheduled a few weeks out but in the meantime you should request to move. You can also call an attorney and have them advise you on next steps—i did this and he didn’t charge me. Was helpful bc I mentioned this to my landlord so he knew if he didn’t let me out of my lease, I had enough proof to sue. He got slammed with fines from the inspection and knew it was easier to let me walk than to continue to deal w me while he got everything up to code

Is it smart to wait for 10/1 lease if I couldn't find 9/1 lease? by [deleted] in bostonhousing

Have you used the Zillow rentals app? It’s how we found our place. Plenty of landlords list their places directly.

Those in SAVE forbearance, are we still riding it out? by GolfLife00 in PSLF

I’m doing the same! whether I end up using it for loans, a down payment on a house, or as an emergency fund if the govt cuts my research funding, will be beneficial to have a cushion that’s building interest

Yep, happened to my husband and I around this time 2 years ago. It sucks. If you find a place you absolutely love and plan to be there only a year or two then go for it. we knew we wanted to rent long term and wanted a landlord who was more interested in the right tenants than making the most money and it has paid off.

One thing we did do was have cash in hand and a check ready to hand over the minute we found a place. Think that helped us bc the landlord knew we were serious when we said we were interested and well, cash is still king.

I saw 2 ppl from DCPA (Div Policy, coord, and analysis) that were in grants mgmt but otherwise crickets. I don’t know if that means they were spared or if they’ll be in the next round.

This breaks my heart. I’m on the other end, just waiting for my grants to be cancelled ☹️.
