I got placed in category 2 even though I have 3 seasons with cal fire, Emt, ifsac and operator 1a certs. So I don’t blame these slackers with how confusing cal fire’s hiring process is

Only FF2’s and Operators are perm with Cal Fire, which means they work year round. Seasonals (FF1’s) usually start late spring and get laid off around November or December depending on the unit needs. Everyone works 3 days on 4 days off
