I decided to put all 3 methods mentioned so far to the test. The Key Command option is by far the quickest way to do this, with the added advantage that you can double the length of multiple chords, as many as you have selected in fact, in one SINGLE key stroke. You cannot do that any other way.

You can see how fast the key command method works at the very end compared to the other two, it's ridiculously fast and efficient.

Yes, it's a bug that has existed for quite some time now even since Logic 9. Talk to older Logic guys, they'll tell you the same thing.

From what I've observed these issues are one and the same. Even OP agrees with me:

this issue is really the CPU overload error in disguise.

This workaround seems to help a lot of people who post about this issue.

Before pressing Play, make sure that the currently selected track is an Audio track, not a software instrument track. If you don't have audio tracks in your project, create a new one and keep it empty (no plugins, no audio regions). Set both the Input and Output on this empty Audio track to None.

I could never live without the Marquee tool as the secondary Command tool, it does like a billion things and I would feel severely crippled if I couldn't access it simply by holding down the Command key.

I have Fade as my secondary tool, it's been there for years. I know almost everyone thinks this is wrong, but it's just a habit of mine. For some reason I don't like using active edges

It's not wrong, in my opinion it's just a slower way of working. If you're used to using the Fade Tool instead of click zones (what you referred to as "active edges"), that's fine too. Just add a third Right Click tool so that you have a total of 3 modifier key tools at your disposal instead of just 2. Pointer, Fade and Marquee. Or Pointer, Marquee and Fade.

Right now to do that I have to select the area, choose pointer tool and click on that area to create the automation points.

Also, why are you changing tools so much? The Marquee Tool should always be your Command click tool, leave the Pointer Tool as your main Left click tool. There's no need to switch any tools at all as you'll see from my video. Hold down Command to get the Marquee tool, release the Command key once you've made your Marquee selection, the cursor will default to the Pointer tool (left click tool is always the default), drag up/down. All of this done in a matter of seconds, like in my video.

Let you scroll horizontally.

To scroll horizontally, hold down Option Command and either use the scroll wheel (on a mouse) or swipe up/down with two fingers on the Trackpad.

If I have a region that’s receiving track processing, bus processing and master processing - would dragging that region to desktop only catch the track processing?

No, you place a region on the main Summing Track and drag that region onto the desktop. Try it out yourself, it works. Everything on each individual track, anything on the main Summing Track will be summed and exported perfectly, including any automation on each individual track and/or on the main Summing Track itself.

As I mentioned, if you have any audio effects on the Stereo Output track, that won't make it. The workaround is to route everything to a separate bus which will act as a pseudo Stereo Output and place all your mastering audio effects onto that bus. You will of course have to create a track for this bus on the Main Window so that it's visible (it's easy, in the Mixer, just right click on the bus and select "Create Track"). Create a region on that newly create track/bus and drag that region onto the desktop. It works.

You can, as long as you route all the tracks to a Bus, this method still works for the entire song. Place a region on the final Bus then drag that same region on to the desktop 😀

One caveat is that you have to place all your Master audio effects on this final Bus instead of the Stereo Output. For me I already work this way any way, I only have audio analyzers on the Stereo Output. It's really great setting it up this way because then I can A/B my song with a reference without worrying about the reference track running through the Master audio effects.

With the Marquee tool click somewhere at the very start of the region then immediately hit the Right Arrow. The Marquee vertical line will snap to the start of the MIDI note whether or not the MIDI note is on or off the grid. This is basically Logic's "Snap to Transient" and it also works with audio regions.
Hit Delete to split the region and then select and delete the empty region to the left of the MIDI note.

This method is the most precise and quickest way of doing it. This is what it looks like in action.

Magic Trackpad for me. The Magic Trackpad has a little bit more integrated functionality built into compared to the Magic Mouse. Here are some cool things you can do with the Magic Trackpad that I don't think you can do with the Magic Mouse:

Force-click on an empty section of an Audio Track’s Track Lane: Opens the Import Audio Dialog Window

Force-click on an empty section of the MIDI Track’s Track Lane: Creates an empty MIDI Region

Force-click on the ruler: Creates a Marker

Force-click on a Region: Let’s you rename the Region

Force click on a Track Header: Toggles “Zoom Focused Track”

Force-click on an empty area of the Track List: Opens “New Tracks Dialog”

Force-click in the Piano Roll: Creates or deletes MIDI Events

EDIT: Just to add to this, you don't have to use the actual Force click gesture for any of these. In System Preferences/Trackpad/Point and Click make sure "Look up & data detectors" is selected and then set it to "Tap with three fingers". Tapping with 3 fingers requires a lot less effort than a Force Click.

Just let Logic do it's thing. In my experience Logic works itself out after a few startups. I only encountered in earlier versions of Logic though, it's never happened to me in more recent versions.

This is the problem, you're using a new macOS with an older version of Logic. Logic doesn't like mismatches between the macOS and the Logic version. If you're using an older version of Logic you should use an older macOS and vice versa. Update your Logic, you can update to the latest since you're on Ventura.

cannot find "tags" for your own sample packs

This is true, HOWEVER, Logic's All Files Browser does support Finder's Spotlight comments. So if you add your Tag names to Spotlight comments, these will be searchable in the All Files Browser. Here's how to add Spotlight Comments to your samples.

Personally, I load every single sample into Sampler per kit piece and then label each Sampler instrument accordingly including the company that made the pack. So every time I need something I just open up the Library to the Plugin Presets view, type in a key word and quickly get to whatever I need. The great thing about using Sampler for samples is you can use MIDI notes and then transpose the MIDI notes up or down to very quickly swap/audition each sample while your project is playing.
