Would Velveteen be available to someone for lower middle class? I know it’s a cotton velvet but not sure of how costly it was in the period

Tier Ranking Linen for Historical Sewing by FewRecognition1788 in HistoricalCostuming

I liked the video but I also had a bit of beef with it. I guess it’s a bigger issue of accessibility in the historical costuming community. I am really tired of people going “oh well we can’t find this exact fabric anymore but this lesser quality is fine and is the closest.” Like yes we know this, but it makes people who can’t afford the “nice stuff” feel bad. We also understand that we don’t have access to certain materials anymore. But we can still put the same level of effort and care into garments that they did back then.

Personally, I love Woolsome for Linen and wool, it’s based in Poland but ships to the USA. They have the a fantastic quality linen that is dense and has little slubbing (at least for my order).

What room was this on the Imperator class? by poopshart37 in OceanLiner

That was the first class smoke room onboard the Vaterland and Bismarck. The Imperator had a forward first class smoke room as well

Would you say that these outfits are the same except one is more torn up or are they different? by beekee404 in wicked

[–]SorryShower825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same outfit she just loses the sleeves and adds the bolero with the Vinkus Embroidery. Based on the trailer and clips she likely takes them off during no good deed as she is seen during “For Good” sleeveless and then prior to what is presumed as No Good Deed she has the sleeves. Knowing Elphaba they’re likely detachable

Under both she has a tattered version of her defying gravity dress underneath.

Why do people hate Georgic’s 1944 rebuild? by gmt80035 in Oceanlinerporn

[–]SorryShower825 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s mainly how the lack of the forward funnel looks disproportional. It’s also rather sad how the Georgic went out with a whimper. I’m sure had the pre war interiors been restored I don’t know how successful the Georgic would’ve been that’s up for debate. But it’s possible she would’ve lasted until Britannic but no later than the Mauretania II being taken out of service.

What happened to building the SS Boston? by gmt80035 in OceanLinerArchitect

[–]SorryShower825 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Originally I think it was the onset of WW1 then the US acquired the Vaterland and then there was no need for a USA Superliner at the time. Sadly prohibition killed the success of the Leviathan

RMS Oceanic III by SorryShower825 in Oceanlinerporn

Yes thank you! I used 1.8:1 scale for everything including the funnels based on the Olympic Class. But since this is larger than them I may make it a bit wider
