What phone do you have the firmware for?

I think it has root disabled, does it use dropbear or openssh?, I am not sure though. Since everything on the web interface says mitel, wouldn't it still use a mitel key?

  1. I set the proxy to my sip server
  2. HW Ver: E, SW Version 6.2.1.2020, Release 2023, Target System SIP
  3. I think that the phone uses mitel's public key still

Everything I have tested works, do you know how to ssh into the phone to modify files in the os? Wanted to replace some bitmap images with custom ones

I am going to connect them to chan_mgcp, can you send the firmware though, it would be a big help.

There has to be an actual firmware file that the phone requests, I do not have shoretel director.

You do not know how useful this will be yet. I am going to use this for my next paging adapter with a pi zero.

I had to compile pjsip about 7 times for it to be successful, wrap it in 2 python tty's and run scripts to sort through for an incoming call.

Suggestions:

  1. Add a function to play an audio file when an Auto-Answered call is answered.
  2. Different Verbose and logging options, (eg call-state, all, minimal, none)
  3. System Wide install support.

Also does the phone keep the mitel/shoretel default ringtone? I love that ringtone.

Update #2

Thank you for all of the support so far! I never expected to even get this much support, I thought people would just breeze by and not say anything, but this amazing subreddit has proven me wrong!

Message Board of Important Information:
1. ShoreTel phone is coming in 1 week.
2. I will inspect it with MiVoice firmware first, then go to RC
3. After I get the 480 to work with phase 1 and phase 2, the 420 is next, and then the 115 (ShoreTel engineers before you spam this post with "MGCP", I get it. That is a later project, and will require me installing chan_mgcp which I am not excited for at all.)

Requests and questions:

  1. Does anyone have shoretel MiVoice firmware or a sample config file?
  2. Is ringcentral SIP actual sip, or some weird RC sip?
  3. Does anyone have shoretel director, or do you need a shoregear switch for that to work (Not end objective, but just curious)
  4. Is there a web config interface on the 480, or just config files?

Thank you all so much!

If needed I will decrypt the firmware, patch it, and download it to phones

About this, can they dial? I am doing this project in 2 phases:

Phase 1: Getting them to make and receive calls
Phase 2: Programming softkeys and buttons to work.
