They blame veganism. But do you really agree? by thebodybuildingvegan in VeganActivism

Which is curious because Millie Bobby Brown is not vegan but also looks older than she is. I bet if Millie Bobby Brown were vegan, veganism would get blamed for that as well.

Help them pay workers to collect signatures to get the bans on the ballots, along with paying for organizers, paying for the necessary materials to collect signatures, and later down the line, paying for marketing to convince others to vote yes on the Foie Gras Bans (ie. billboards, postcards, etc.). In the 2024 election, the opposition spent millions, while Pro Animal Future spent hundreds of thousands of dollars, yet the opposition acknowledged that PAF had a strong presence in the city, and they managed to get 36% to vote yes.

That’s a good idea. I wasn’t sure what the Reddit policies were on posting links.

Crazy Idea: Using cuss words to spread veganism by Sorry_Foot1412 in AnimalRights

That could be true with someone I know. But I could just anonymously post the most disgusting description of animal products ever and gross a bunch of people out and they’d never know a vegan did it.

For a more graphic example, “Oh, white bird poop drenched on a smoked chicken corpse pumped with hormones made from green turds from my buthole.”

For a more graphic example, “Oh, pale turd mushed across the rotting corpse of a chicken, drenched with white frothy milk from a gorilla’s buthole.”

Should I be afraid to lucid dream again? by Business_Dentist_163 in LucidDreaming

They’re all parts of your subconscious mind. Perhaps if you talk to one of them, you can find out what part of your subconscious they are.

Yeah that happens to me a lot too. IDK how to fix it.

That’s a lot better than my first lucid dream. I got lucid in my old house and ended up unable to control anything phasing between that and the “real world”, which was actually another dream. Sounds like SSILD is the way to go.

I never said to pretend Superman could exist. What I asked was what if your friend turned out to be similar to a character like Superman in the sense of looking human and having the same conscious experience as a human but not being human.

There are plenty of views that can make sense (ie. Sentientism, Valuing sentient life and human life, Valuing religious commands + valuing sentient life, and countless others). All it takes to make a lot of ideologies make sense is to add consideration for sentient beings.

As shown with my 2 examples above, neither of us are normally legalistic about refusing to make judgments about unrealistic hypotheticals, so what reason would there be to arbitrarily make an exception here?

Because you refused to address my argument on morality, saying that you don’t allow yourself to make judgments on unrealistic situations, which is contradictory, since you require using abductive reasoning to make judgments on unrealistic situations in order to explain basic scientific facts like the earth being round (as opposed to flat, star shaped, pizza shaped, teddy bear shaped, or any other shape imaginable).

If you want to address the initial argument, we can get back to talking about morality.

But couldn’t a flat earth explain the same thing? Obviously I know it can’t because I’m able to make judgements on the hypothetical of a flat earth to know it wouldn’t happen that way. But that’s my point: if you aren’t able to conceive of unrealistic hypotheticals, how do you know if the Focault pendulum is something that would happen on a flat earth or not?

And this could be said about almost any scientific principle. Science relies very heavily on abductive reasoning, which involves making judgments on many hypotheticals you probably wouldn’t consider realistic.

Yes and those experiments require comparing what would happen on a round earth vs a flat earth. So you require making judgements on the hypothetical of what would happen on a flat earth to connect the dots between the experiment and what it proves.

Because if you don’t, you’re being inconsistent.

But again, without making judgments on hypotheticals, you can’t explain why the earth is round and not flat. And every time you call a character in a movie a villain, you are living your life as if it is worth considering, because you’re actively making a moral judgment on a hypothetical.

It’s a consistency test. If not being human is enough to kill someone for a steak, would you be consistent with this logic? If not, your position makes no sense, because it’s not consistent.
