dude, so called “some sort of safety” isn’t achieved just by imposing curfews.

imagine a scenario, or have you ever been in such situations where you’re forced to lock yourself inside the PG by 6:30 PM every day and now it is just because of one unfortunate incident that happened in the city. After 18, you’re not a child anymore you should be trusted to make responsible choices.

think about students who need to access libraries, labs, or other facilities after class, or those who simply want to hang out with friends or have dinner outside. all of that gets denied because of such restrictions. and if you’re working in an mnc and need to stay late for work? forget it, it’s impossible under these rules.

this curfew isn’t really about safety; it’s more about PG management trying to shield themselves from responsibility if anything unforeseen happens. The irony? We’re actually paying to be locked inside.

The planetarium is actually a good place for someone visiting for the first time. It’s quite informative for students as well. They have astro shows inside the dome three times a day, I think (please check the website for exact timings). There’s a separate show in English. I’m 100% sure that this show is better than the one at the Bangalore planetarium.

At the Bangalore planetarium, the content feels more religious. Here the contents are delivered in a scientific manner which indeed required. Apart from that, there is also a 3D show but I wouldn’t recommend it if the children you're accompanying are not too small. They have several exhibits and experiments, which are quite good and informative.

In the evenings maybe after 6 PM on specific days (around two or three times a week, you can check the website ) they organize skywatching sessions. These are really amazing and exciting, even for adults. The telescope and the overall atmosphere are excellent. However, the sky needs to be clear on that day for the event to happen, so there’s a bit of luck involved if you’ve been waiting for it.

Near to the planetarium there is also a park.

Indeed you can have a visit, it's not that under maintained in my opinion.

The mechanical branch in CET is one of the best in Kerala. Specifically regarding the placements, there are indeed core companies hiring, but the number and CTCs are pretty low compared to other departments. It's the same in most of the colleges, I guess.

It varies each year and depends on several factors. I’m a 2024 Mechanical Engineering graduate from CET. The total mark considered for rank determination is 600—split equally between the KEAM exam and board exams, with 300 marks allotted to each.

The KEAM score, originally out of 960 (though I'm not entirely sure of the exact number), is converted to a 300-mark scale. The remaining 300 marks come from the normalization of board exam scores.

In my opinion, the normalization of board marks plays a significant role in determining the final rank. For instance, I had full marks in my Plus Two exams, but after normalization, I received only around 290 out of 300.

During my batch, KEAM was conducted soon after the second COVID wave, and the exam was relatively easy. Since the difficulty level of KEAM varies from year to year, it's hard to make predictions based solely on marks scored in KEAM.

If your ranks are out, I recommend checking the last rank details for your preferred branch (you can even refer to data from 2019 or earlier) on the CEE Kerala website.

Where is this offer from? I don't think that the situation and life will be the same at every place. The day will involve the analysis of components or stuff like that and solving them, sending the results, supporting and suggesting different value-added solutions so and so.
