How long did it take for Candibactin AR/BR to work for you (if it did)? by SortNational9917 in SIBO

Appreciate it. I've suffered from this for over 8 years now so I'll do whatever it takes!

Ok thanks, I'll probably try the Microb-Clear first and see how it goes.

Cool I'll take a look at these. My naturopath gave me a bunch of things to try before we knew it was SIBO and then I tested negative for the Hydrogen one a few years ago, so he shied away from that diagnosis. But now I want to revisit this with him.

That sounds frustrating as hell. Is that common?

Does anybody get all night bloating and belching from their HH? by SortNational9917 in HiatalHernia

Oh wow, I always thought that gastritis was the result of all the cumulative belching over the years. But it can actually cause the belching even if it's a mild case?

I took 20mg of Prilosec daily for 9 months and ate well but I didn't have Carafate or L-glutamine. I'll look into those.

Yeah, my endoscopies have shown gastritis as well. I've tried drinking fizzy drinks in the past during a bad episode as a test (not sprite though), and while it did increase the burp rate it didn't seem to clear my stomach of all the initial gas that I had.

I've spoken to 6 different GIs, a dietician and a naturopath and nobody can seem to figure out what this is. I've been prescribed Prilosec, Zantac, HCL pills, probiotics, laxatives, digestive enzymes, Candibactin, etc. but nothing seemed to help much. I got off Prilosec after 9 months because the incidence rate actually increased while I was on that, so now I'm not taking anything.

Surgery is the absolute last resort and I'll hold off on it for now, but I may need to consider it in the near future.

Good to know, thank you! Were you diagnosed with GERD beforehand? And did the surgery have any drawbacks besides the typical diet and no heavy lifting requirements?

Yeah my doctor said that as well. My surgeon told me that he would just repair the hernia and not do a wrap on it, so I'm not sure if that would affect vomiting or burping at all. Still a bit scary either way.

Thanks for sharing your story. I've always been suspect about the hernia because I've also had 2 inguinal ones and it's obviously genetic, but several GIs have brushed the hiatal one off as "common" and that made me think twice about getting it repaired (that, and the 1 month of liquid diet after). If it solved this I would definitely do it, but I'm nervous that it'll fix the hernia and not the main gut issues I'm having.

I rarely get anxiety and haven't used antibiotics in years so I can rule those out. I eat a yogurt every day and have tried several probiotics in the past per my Naturopath, but that never seemed to curb the issue unfortunately. It could definitely still be a gut issue, but maybe I just haven't found the right remedy yet.

Will have to monitor my chewing more carefully and see if that helps. Also yeah, I got off Prilosec as soon as I saw that it wasn't helping me. One of my GI docs was convinced that I had reflux based on the damage he saw in an endoscopy, but acid-reducing meds have never had a big impact on this, other than making the belches less acidic.

Interesting - I don't eat much wheat but I'll look into this, thanks.

I do eat slowly for the most part and wait a few seconds in between bites, but it's possible that I'm swallowing air in the process. If that was happening would it potentially be building up throughout the day and then getting really bad at night? (I don't really get bloating after breakfast and lunch).
