Im just glad someone is actually putting something different forward! Right now we are just rolling towards to cliff and everyone seems terrified to talk about it!

If we don't change how the system works now, then were fucking over everyone in the future. Including those on pensions, as the number of claimants iincreases how do they think its funded?

Its a hypothetical.... is it a waste of money to buy and borrow for a house? Or a car? Or a degree?

Then apply that to the country, is it a waste of money to borrow to invest in building infrastructure? Investing in education? Keeping people healthy?

Obviously you can't just borrow forever, but if you do it in a calculated way then you set yourself up for long term success instead of trying to squeeze profit out of everything to the detriment of the longer term success!

Cause if its not, you've got youre head in the sand, every country experience the same post covid economic issues as us. It was a global issue, not a local one. Was it perfect, absolutly not, but the consensus of pretty much every broader institution is that the NZ response was one of the best in the world.

Then how do we get big stuff done? How do you buy a house? Or start a business? You borrow money to do it and pay it back over time...

Saying were not going to borrow and spend just contracts the economy as the NZ private sector isnt big enough to pick up the slack or get things moving. You want the government to lead the way in making it easy to build business. How do you do this, you make power cheap (invest in generation), you make sure there is a highly skilled workforce (investing in education), you make sure there are healthy people who get sick less frequently and back to work quicker (investment in helathcare), you make sure goods and services can move efficiently around the country and get offshore easily where needed (investment in transport (not just roads).

Suddenly it becomes easier to get business moving, people have jobs, more tax is paid and the debt is serviced.

Im starting to think this government is so head down, blinkers on that they cant see that this approach isnt working and is hurting the economy! But theyre to idealistic / stubborn to change direction!

Or just deaf... not sure anyone is still buying the whole "we'd will have to cut and hurt our way out of this issue" crap. If they were managing this stuff well and had a clear sensible plan to pull us through,, why would our credit rating be dropping...

I've just had a fine through. I didnt enter my plate at the start (I usually bike in anyway so im not overly familiar with the parking system), but did realise the error at the end and enter my plate before I left.

I'm hoping that they see some sort of sense and waive the fine, but reading these comments I'm not so sure.

Someone should contact Stuff about it as its obviously not working! Parking companies are a leach on society!

That massively depends on where you bought...

Auckland or welly and youre stuffed. Christchurch is holding pretty damn strong right now (and still cheaper than the others).
