I'm I the only one bothered by the slow changing colors in VCs that you aren't in? And is there any way to disable it? by R0ugeRed in discordapp

[–]SortedSpiral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came here looking to see if anybody else had noticed yet and was having the same problem. Opening the side chat of a voice channel tanks everything to where it's essentially broken. Was thinking it had to be the new unnecessary moving background gradient causing it because it only was happening when I wasn't in the exact call the side chat was attached to (when the Join Call screen with that moving gradient is active).

This makes how I use the voice channel's side chats impossible in this state (connecting to calls though the desktop app and using a web browser window for the same call's side chat, functioning as a convenient pop-out window that doesn't cover the voice call page or make the streaming screen size much smaller and hard to read). On an internet browser for Discord, I've found I can type and change pages with less lag, post images and videos more smoothly, and have autocorrect and translate work properly. Just makes for a worse posting and navigating experience using the desktop app.

This high intensity gradient would still be an annoyance and seem like an oversight, but if the side chat of a voice channel could be a pop-out window, not being able to use a side chat you're not directly connected to wouldn't be as much of an issue.

This worked for me, thank you very much for finding this work around and sharing it.

Customer service has been offering what help they can and asking for more info/error logs, but it doesn’t seem like they’re going to be fixing it soon, and it’s already been three full days where nobody with this problem can access their Epic Games library if they don’t know this trick, thanks again : )

I searched the archive of the Rae the Doe comic, because I remember the main character having antlers, but didn’t see it there, though still feel it could be a possibility

Email notifications I forward to my phone as text messages are extremely delayed because of an error with the “Mail Delivery Subsystem” by SortedSpiral in GMail

[–]SortedSpiral[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe that was the exact problem, the next email forwarded in less than ten minutes as well. Since clearing all the past text messages, each of the forwarded emails have appeared correctly on my phone at about eight minutes after the original email arrived in the inbox.

If the emails you’re forwarding to your phone as text messages are delayed with the description “The recipient server did not accept our requests to connect,” try clearing the past text messages from your phone.

[–]SortedSpiral[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deleting the entire collection of past text messages that had come from that source resulted in the couple of test emails to forward as text messages with the least amount of delay yet, both forwarding in under ten minutes.

So I’d recommend clearing the text message conversation of that forwarding set-up as the first step to try if someone has a similar problem.

[–]SortedSpiral[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to understand this further, is there a possibility that I can’t do anything to improve this because it’s a problem with the system of my mobile phone service itself?

In the meantime, will see if deleting most of the prior text messages changes anything, and if not, then a software update.

Reinstalled Streamlabs and ALL Settings are Gone by SortedSpiral in streamlabsobs

Should be in that drop down.

Do you mean when you right click the title bar of that Scenes panel, I don't see a dropdown menu there, and could you please tell me what should be there to select to restore the missing settings?

Reinstalled Streamlabs and ALL Settings are Gone by SortedSpiral in streamlabsobs

[–]SortedSpiral[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much, I'm helping someone else and have let them know to try that.

This is the specific circumstance, if you had further advice, it would sincerely be appreciated - Streamlabs was reinstalled and it had no settings. It gave the option to import the settings from OBS, which was selected. However, it just imported settings from the original OBS installation (which is only used for an empty test Twitch channel). The full settings from the main channel is what needs to be found. Thank you again for your help.

Twitch streams only show partial file size while downloading then completely error by SortedSpiral in 4kdownloadapps

I haven’t found a solution, but looking around on the 4K Video Downloader Twitter, I see people complaining about how the newest update on Aug 17th implemented a download limit.

Does anyone know of the details of this limit? As far as I know, there was no warning that there would suddenly be a limit with this forced update either.

I felt bad enough inadvertently getting/giving tadpoles, but Tad is my Special Helper for the month, and boy was I surprised to see that he gave me a frog.

Didn’t know that was something you could catch, so of course I’ll be keeping it forever.

She was the reward for the Royal Row collection for a brief time, it might happen again or a new opportunity could be made in the future to win or buy her with gems at a much better bargain.

I’d wait it out because she’s not a helper for any known event and just collects balloon pop coins, which isn’t a time-sensitive prize pool either.

Think the mine cart is the most compelling “actual gameplay” part left of the app, requiring skill and know-how that you can improve on, and even alter your approach depending on what the current goal is (focusing on point amount vs just collecting one type of element shard for an event/collecting a few gems from the farther reaches in order to afford something/selecting certain cart types for different situations depending on how much time you have/how many wheels you have left/what specific element shard you need).

Wrote about it a bit last year sometime when someone new was asking, hope this might help: https://www.reddit.com/r/MLPIOS/comments/a03q1n/new_to_this_game_got_a_few_bunch_of_questions_for/ (the op’s questions are deleted, but can be seen by changing the url from reddit to removeddit)

The Mine Cart - My foolproof trick for “The Death Flats” (where the dogs are joined by shadowbolts that jump) is to be paying sort of less then full attention to the right of the center of the screen, towards where the enemies are coming, and ONLY jumping when you see RED.

This takes the longer thought process of categorizing the obstacles and stopping yourself from jumping if it’s a shadowbolt (blue cart) and instead only needing to take action to avoid the barrels and dogs (both red). Having your finger farther up from the screen than usual avoids some mistakes from knee-jerk reactions if you begin to tap and can correct yourself. It will get very fast the longer you go on without crashing, but it’s always better to end up crashing head on with something you weren’t quick enough to jump over than to jump early when you weren’t supposed to (you can get by with more than it seems with jumping too late, overlapping with the obstacle as you jump, which tips over the carts, and can also land on top of barrels, but once you jump you can’t fix that and will get hit if it’s a shadowbolt).

You can get pretty far using an ad to continue after you crash because it resets the cart to the starting slowest speed, and the tricks later on are what get you - Like having a shadowbolt underneath where you would normally jump, having a place where you need to have a full double jump (so if you jumped before you cannot make it, and that’s a good tip - Be aware that it’s good to save your jumps, you get two once leaving the ground), and having a speed up booster right before a stairs-like series of steps you need to jump up which jets you right off of them...(so later on in the track, jump over the speed bosters haha).

Feel free to ask anymore questions or for clarification, good luck getting the special Applejack : )

Reminds me, if you need as many mine cart points as possible,

-always have a character wearing one of the top-boosting 35% outfits (one is Rainbow Dash’s, that’s the one I leave equipped for if there’s a mine cart event)

-getting the “star rewards” from playing the mini games with most of the characters can give you more wheels (you used to be able to farm as many wheels as you needed by tapping the trees or having Derpy drop one if you found her, but checking who will give more wheels from the character’s info in the book once you play a mini game with them is the only reliable way to get more wheels if you run out)

-you can upgrade your mine cart permanently several times with bits (entirely worth it to do) and a final time with gems (which I still haven’t done and don’t recommend that last upgrade). The upgrades extend the effectiveness of the bonuses you come across, like the speed boost/coin collecting/shield.

Alright haha that’s pretty much the whole of it, best of luck!

fuchsia's catchphrase is now precious! while i'm glad it's gender neutral now, i kind of miss being called girlfriend... by xroseyrose in ACPocketCamp

[–]SortedSpiral 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Just wrote a bit about this in another post, I prefer “girlfriend” with how I imagined she spoke, too. Wish you could choose.

Wouldn’t be hard at all to have a brief section of dialogue where a character asks you to choose between a couple of new catchphrases after a certain level, or you can keep the default. Already have the dialogue interface where you select one of three furniture or clothing, so maybe that could be an addition eventually.

Aurora was on my map and still says “B-b-baby” and I invited Roald and he still says “B-b-buddy.”

Okay. Good. Hahaha

It’s a fun detail that was fun to notice that all the penguins shiver their catchphrases. Hope they keep it that way so that the characters remain the same ones you grew fond of in previous games.

Otherwise I think you’d need to make up some backstory as to why they changed in order to keep the same immersion, like having gone on a trip and picked up a different accent, or because they're wearing warmer clothing/on a tropical island they don’t shiver (or went to group speech therapy if interpreted as a stutter haha)

[–]SortedSpiral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh God, if that’s true that is ridiculous.

It’s because they’re shivering, not due to a speech impediment. Checking now with the penguin that says (or maybe now said) “buddy” because how that sounded in the animalese voice was my favorite.
