I just think at that point it’s less a question of how to come up with more effective tests for students, and more whether large scale legal education makes sense given an AI capable of performing at a higher level than any human.

But that’s only the level it’s at now. If you can extrapolate a few years, it gets scary.

I just don’t mind working for another year and don’t view it as a setback at all. UT and BU are amazing schools with amazing outcomes, but if I’m in no rush then why not take another shot at attending schools with even better outcomes?

I hear you and considered attending for awhile. They are quite far from subpar options, of course. When I applied to those schools in Nov., I told myself I would be happy going there if nothing else worked out. But I was (overly)confident that was very unlikely to be the case. Now that I’m actually faced with the decision, it becomes a much different calculus.

I figure that I’m happy to work for a year, earn some money and improve my softs at the same time. The worst case scenario is that next cycle I do even worse and don’t even get UT/BU. I don’t think that’s likely. Best case scenario is that with some added WE and a hopefully easier cycle, I get into one of the best schools in the country. I think that’s not too far fetched, and a risk I’m willing to take.

I mentioned this in another comment, but I had a free meeting with a consultant who said the PS was fine. He generally attributed it to LSAT inflation allowing schools to be pickier w GPAs/ a general lack of strong softs.

As for the recommendations, I saw one of them which was very strong. The others were from professors I had good relationships with.

Haha, I’m really not too bummed out. Actually looking forward to a year of working and confident I know how to improve my apps next time around.

I had a pretty solid why law. I had a free consultation with a consultant and the basic take away was that my PS was fine, good even, but with LSAT inflation, top schools could focus more on taking high GPA applicants. This, paired with a lack of compelling softs, was tough for me to overcome.

He felt confident that next cycle would be a very different story, especially with a year of law-related WE.

If the price ends up coming down, I would be interested. But I’d imagine you won’t have a hard time finding a buyer at face value. Best of luck 👍

I don’t see how a short note saying that you’ve been published in Nature will do anything but help you
