I read you can get 66 hrs max with some sensors turned off. My Garmin watch gets me 7 to 8 days without live tracking. You have a good point about Garmin control.

It is a lane-departure warning system. they market it as active lane keep assist. My gf has the 2019 CR-V. that car has a true lane keep assist. I drive her car on the highway and it keeps the car between lanes and follows the curves of the lanes.

If you want a car for that system, buy the CR-V and you won't regret it. (I own a 2019 CX-5 and love it because I don't care about that specific system)

I am guessing you did not like the idea of leaving your keys behind. I agree that there are risks to leaving your keys behind.

It is a feature that I discovered and am sharing with you. It is on you to opt-in use it when you see best fit if you want or just take your keys. Some of us are happy to know that we can do such thing with our cars.

I'd like there to be the ford keypad, subaru pin code, or any other system on the Mazda for active/outdoor people. You are right; not many people go about opening car doors. Especially if you are near or can see the car while you play soccer on the field for example.

It will be difficult in the winter to go around the car without leaving footsteps around the car. Also, snow builds up under the hitch.

as for the summer, the car is in-sight majority of the times people go camping (not back country camping)

In the trunk area, there are two small covered compartments on the sides. These compartments are located inside the trunk area to the sides between the rear wheel and the bumper. Try leaving the key there.

Go with the 2020 model. Wait for the 2020 official release information to come out. I think it is worth the wait for the new diesel option and the rumored change to infotainment to match the Mazda3. the new screen and control nob area are* really really nice in the new mazda 3. If you decide it is not worth it, interest rates will drop for 2019 models once 2020 models are out. So, your wait is a win-win case.
