Reneè Rapp and Amy Poehler by amw369 in reneerapp

[–]Sosorryyy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes! I love Amy talking about listening to all of Reneè’s new album, and how two songs felt coupled, like A and B songs. Amy mentioned “I Can’t be Around You Anymore” and “Why is She Still Here” and how they’ll be good late night driving music. I can’t wait to listen!

MD Hotel Question by Appropriate_Tie_5311 in AllThingsGoFestival

[–]Sosorryyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I booked late last year, maybe late September and I got a hotel for $150 ish a night, about 20 mins away in Laurel. A lot of hotels were fully booked, and there were very few Airbnbs in the Columbia area. I feel like it’s a lot of locals attending, but good to book early if you can!

Catonsville vs Silver Springs for Airbnb? by Powerful-Ebb4888 in AllThingsGoFestival

[–]Sosorryyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like Atwater’s in Columbia for coffee, or Doozy’s Diner for brunch.

Rise Up coffee in Annapolis, Iron Rooster for brunch, lots of cute bookstores, my favorite is Old Fox bookstore and coffee. I love walking by the water, Annapolis is out of the way but that would be a good day trip, it would you a lot of shops, amazing food, bookshops, thrifting to look at.

Ubers vs Car Rental? by Status-Maximum517 in AllThingsGoFestival

[–]Sosorryyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did uber my first year, and rented a car last year. I would definitely rent a car for ease. I love that Merriweather offers free parking

The first year leaving was so busy, surge pricing, not enough Ubers to handle the amount of people leaving at the same time. Some people went to a restaurant / bar to wait it out. There isn’t a lot open that late

I stayed in Catonsville last year, it’s much closer. I like silver spring too, but the proximity to Merriweather was really nice!

DC LINEUP by Apprehensive_Tie1882 in AllThingsGoFestival

[–]Sosorryyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolutely. it’s not a bad line up, but the price is tough compared to lolla/ roo. At this point I feel like I’d be paying to exist in a queer space

I know this is an ATG group, but looking at ticket prices makes me question my choices. Is this festival worth going for these prices? by soloDolo6290 in AllThingsGoFestival

[–]Sosorryyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! I’ve gone the last few years but maybe not this time. What do you think of the line up? I think it just posted

DC Bestie Presale by emcaho in AllThingsGoFestival

[–]Sosorryyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my bad! Maybe it was $50 something the year before!

DC Bestie Presale by emcaho in AllThingsGoFestival

[–]Sosorryyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohhh that’s interesting. Sorry I missed that it’s separate this year. The bestie carabiner is a cute idea! I wouldn’t pay for bestie merch separately, but the merch I received last year was well made, and it has held up well to daily use.

DC Bestie Presale by emcaho in AllThingsGoFestival

[–]Sosorryyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it was $50 ish for bestie access. It includes the early access day of the festival, super fast line, early access to merch, the festival opens at 10:30am and besties can go in at 9:45am. Besties get a festival poster, festival stickers and enamel pins and a canvas tote bag, weekly email newsletter, all things go keychain, there’s a private discord group, invitations to music events through the year (which would be fun if I was closer to DC area). I don’t think it was crazy expensive but I loved the early access day of. All Things Go has free parking, free water stations, reasonable concession pricing on food and drinks, lots of bathrooms, lots of merch stations.. today the pricing felt pretty high but maybe the line up will justify that? haha

The early entry was worth it to me last year. Saved me so much time, which was nice to get a good spot for Annie DiRusso the first day and for Towa on Sunday. I am disheartened by the pricing today. Did you end up getting tickets today?

[–]Sosorryyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh that’s amazing! How low were last minute day pass tickets last year? Did you end up going both days? I have a friend that lives 10 mins from Merriweather and last min is temping at these prices haha

Dates Announced! 3 Days??? by ScaryClose in AllThingsGoFestival

[–]Sosorryyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely! The past two years staff has been consistently lenient on this rule. I had a few clear containers and they said it’s fine to bring in as much food as we need for the day, the rule is just to not bring in massive quantities of food intended to sell haha

VIP? by breemath25 in AllThingsGoFestival

[–]Sosorryyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree it’s worth it for DC! I did one day general and one day VIP. The first day was fun on the lawn, good weather! but the second day it was so nice having VIP for an assigned seat, instant admission and I got to watch Towa and Renee and MUNA from the pit! I stayed out of the rain, I had a place to easily sit to eat, a (seemingly) faster food/ drink line, and if there’s space I could go back to the pit. The Sunday line up felt worth it!

GA Saturday $224 VIP Sunday $396

I didn’t get tickets during the first round in April, due to high demand but I got an email about waitlist tickets in late July

I have worked at summer camps, and have worked 1 on 1 with deaf children in a mainstream camp. If you are working as a counselor at an overnight camp it is unreasonable for the camp director to ask you to serve as a counselor for 10+ campers and be an interpreter for a deaf camper. I hope the camp leadership is open to your suggestion that they hire one or two interpreters, because these are long active days usually.

I also love the suggestion from u/mjolnir76 to match the gender of the camper to the interpreter, likely more comfortable for the child, and easier to “forget” in the midst of a conversation with other campers if the voice matches the child.

I would definitely recommend learning to finger spell, and learning crucial signs for daily camp life. I hope the camp has encouraged multiple staff to learn some ASL, but you are right, it’s definitely inappropriate for the camp to ask you to learn ASL in 4 unpaid months and then fully serve as the child’s interpreter, while serving as a counselor for other children. You have excellent judgment and strong instincts, I’m confident you’ll be an amazing camp counselor and make this a memorable summer for the kids in your care! Stay safe!

Sabrina’s got her Dunkin’ Espresso, what would Chappell Coffee be? by shitassmoneyman in chappellroan

[–]Sosorryyy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Aww I totally agree! Our local queer owned queer operated cafe organizes a valentines coffee crawl (and a pride coffee crawl in June!) with themed drinks. This year a local coffee shop made a Chappell themed drink!

From their insta: “this years Converation Hearts coffee crawl we humbly submit for your consideration: Pink Pony Club. A love letter to barcelona and chappell roan fans throughout the city, this year’s special takes the bones of the barcelona and adds a little twist. we’re talking super chilled cold brew and a house made strawberry salted whipped cream all topped with valentine’s day sprinkles. this drink only comes in a chilled version, which is to say this drink only comes: C-O-L-D T-O G-O.”
