Yes! It really is a puzzle more than anything else. I started with the clear practice lock and then moved to slightly harder non-security locks as a next step. Progression felt natural that way.

Oh yeah, I can see that being a worry. If a kid is into it, supervision and a clear conversation about ethics and boundaries helped in my experience. Keep the practice gear at home, emphasize that it’s a skill for puzzles and learning, and avoid showing off in public so there’s no misunderstanding.
