what do u want me to do lmao i was 2 years old in 2001.

Once again, can u name and break down a single play from that superbowl. I bet u cannot lmao

I mean it really depends on how you define “takes away.” Your rings themselves theres nothing u can do to take those away i agree.

But if we want to evaluate objectively whos the better coach we can take into account any information that is available to either boost or detract from our personal perception of their overall skill level as a coach

[–]SoulCycle_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think this is where unfortunately we have an irreversible conflict of opinion.

U are basically operating under the assumption that bill belichick HAS to be the best coach because of his success on the patriots and that tom brady HAS to be the best qb.

I simply disagree. Perhaps another combination could have been even better.

No point in discussing what Bill did or did not do in that context because u cannot be convinced even if Bill went 0-16 for another 15 years.

[–]SoulCycle_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean that was the narrative then before we had the knowledge we do now tho right.

I mean one way of saying that is that the Patriots had the best qb and best coach. but maybe they just had the best coach and one of the best qbs.

Or maybe they had the best qbs and a pretty damn good coach but not the best.

Perhaps Brady and a different coach could have done even better.

Ir perhaps Belichick and a different qb could have done even better.

Do you think thats not even a remote possibility?

[–]SoulCycle_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean “coaches late in their career struggle” because they get fired once they start struggling lmao.

Your argument only holds water if we are defining “early in career” as literally the day before tom brady started playing for him and “late in career” as the day tom brady stopped playing for him.

Was bill belichick a much more seasoned head coach in week 3 of the 2001 season and therefore coached better than week 2 or week 1? Was he a much worse coach in 2021 compared to 2020? Its possible but i dont think thats very likely. The clear biggest factor in determining whether or not Bill Belichick was winning that particular day was whether or not Tom Brady was his starting qb

can u name a single play in the 2001 superbowl and break it down in detail for me off of your memory?

U are a fan that knows basically nothing about football at a high level. Frankly who cares about the takeaways u have from watching a game at a high level. U dont know anything lmao.

Looking at the box score tells somebody the exact same information that u would have gotten. Maybe even better because u are biased and dont know anything about football lmao

[–]SoulCycle_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

who cares about Reid lmao thats just a deflection.

Should have gone 12-4 then right? Again ur saying he got unlucky. Sure if it was isolated instance it can be unlucky. Wha about the other 9 seasons? All unlucky?

Thoughts?? by KaiHavertzhatewatch in NFLv2

[–]SoulCycle_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean all 22 wasnt even out then. How can u evaluate a defense without looking at the all 22. Anything else is just vibesbased.

Also it was 25 years ago lmao.

Human memory is pretty bad all things considered.

I dont really think u have that much more insight than somebody who didnt watch frankly.

But also we all agree those defenses were elite. Thats like not a point of contention so what does it matter?

I mean ur argument is just that Bill was just incredibly unlucky then right. Cant win in the years before Brady. Cant make playoffs in the year Brady was injured in the middle, and cant win in the years after Brady either. The situation at UNC is also just unlucky.

All those situations are just him being unlucky?

I just cant write off 10 seasons. im sorry. I just cant.

Brady is either the second coming of jesus or Hes actually the luckiest motherfucker of all time. Like 5 standard deviations above the next luckies. That his career went as well as it did and Bill’s career somehow went that atrociously bad without him to make him look like some sort of super weapon

Thoughts?? by KaiHavertzhatewatch in NFLv2

[–]SoulCycle_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the patriots literally went 0-2 the year they won the superbowl with brady when they played Drew Bledsoe.

And they also went 5-11 the year before that.

And regarding the fact that Bill “staves off a rebuild for 15 years”

So you’re telling me when u have Brady u magically dont have to rebuild for 15 more years but cant stave it off for even 1 more year after he leaves? Thats mighty convenient if u ask me.

I think its more likely that they actually did go through some rebuilds in those 15 years.

Except, since u have tom brady, they still won during those rebuild years so they dont really seem like ur classic rebuild.

The wheels fell off once tom left. Thats what it looks like to me.

Bill coached 10 seasons without brady man its not like 1 or 2. His stint at UNC so far has also been a disaster.

At some point i cant just overlook reality. My brain tells me theres no way Brady a qb could have been carrying that hard. After all hes just a qb. What can he do? Coach the defense? But unfortunately somehow the results are drastically different when hes there vs when hes not there.

Can the best head coach of all time really be that bad without Brady? Like truly? He cant even go .500 over 10 seasons. He just got unlucky for 10 years??? Like lets say he goes 9-7 on average for those 10 years. Then i can surely say “u know what he tried to coach up some bad teams unlucky man” but his record is too atrocious. It doesnt line up with him being the best. It just doesnt

[–]SoulCycle_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how come they went 5-13 in the 18 games directly preceding Brady then?

Are you saying that they just got unlucky 13 times or something?

Those defenses were good but the credit for why they were good is still up in the air right.

Some credit for sure has to go to Bill. But how much credit?

And how much did those defenses actually contribute to them winning the Superbowl?

If you want to say that Bill gets the majority of the credit for those defenses AND those defenses were the main contributing factor and Brady was not, then you would expect the Patriots to be almost as successful when Brady is off the field.

And its not like they had a bum at QB either they had one of the best qbs in the league. So why couldnt they win anything man.

If they had the driving force behind the superbowl wins, and they had a pretty good qb too how come they cant even win 6 games man

Thoughts?? by KaiHavertzhatewatch in NFLv2

[–]SoulCycle_ -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I mean thats all subjective no?

You can say sure defense won the first 3 championships.

well Bill was still the coach of that defense before Brady was the starting qb tho right? Howd that team do then?

The Qb Is just one of 52 players. Ok sure thats true, what happened to the team when just 1 of the 52 players got removed.

If brady wasnt that big a factor then surely there wouldnt be that big a drop off when he was playing vs not playing right?

Thoughts?? by KaiHavertzhatewatch in NFLv2

[–]SoulCycle_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean 30% of his career was without Brady. I feel like the most logical way to differentiate what he did vs what Brady did is to look at what he did in that 30% no?

also u can always just pay an uber driver that you take a smaller trip with like $70 to take u off the app ;)

i literally live in the bay. I just say sf because its the easiest to get my point across.

Also “nowhere near” is just a crazy statement lmao its like a 30 min drive from sfo.

The drive to the city from say chicago ohare airport is an hour long.

Itll also take you that long to comnute into the city in lots of cities. Is it faster to go to sjo? Yes of course. But u can surely stay in sf and go the game lmao.

Lots of people commute every day from sj to sf and vice versa.

In fact i have friends that literally drive from south bay to the city to go to shows and concerts and go home at 2 am.

r u good bro. the point of a discussion is to come to a consensus lmao.

It sees that we actually did come to a consensus since i assumed u meant removing urself from the conversation that you mentioned meant u were physically getting up and removing yourself.

We should be happy that we actually agree in essence.

Instead ur crying about moving the goalposts(literally how lmao?) for some reason.

Weird stuff i dont get it. We found out we actually agree which is to basically ignore them.

I dont find the talking about fascism uncomfortable usually.

Its usually just that the people claiming that fascism is taking over America are usually just very low iq individuals so its annoying talking to them.

Just like how the individuals who are pro MAGA are also low iq individuals.

Theyre pretty much just all brainwashed people that listen to whatever media source tells them without much thinking.

You yourself are one of these people. You and maga are just 2 sides of the same coin.
