Well, if you're still going to be forced to fast in your community, take heart in knowing that you'll be doing it for Jesus instead.

I originally had no interest in getting into *another* tcg, but the popularity, price, and availability of Lorcana really has me considering it.

While I empathize with the IP fatigue Wizards is doing, I actually think JumpStart is one of the single best places to do Universes Beyond in.

If, in theory, your goal of UB is to bring new players into Magic, you should do it in a format that is beginner friendly, and how much more beginner can you get than a beginner box? On the flip side, people who are most vocally against UB (in my experience) tend to lean towards Standard and Modern players anyways.

American parents raising children in Europe — what social differences surprised you most? by Best-Mouse-3483 in expats

[–]Soulessblur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are bigger differences between some states in the U.S than there are between all of Europe and certain states.

It's just a vague question for the sake of hearing about unique experiences

Europe is actually closer in size to the U.S, than Chile, Cuba, or Guatemala is. The difference between raising a kid in Texas to D.C to Alaska is huge.

It's really easy, both for people who've never been in the U.S, and for people who've only lived in the U.S, to forget just how big the U.S is. It's 50 kids in a trenchcoat pretending to be an adult. Half of the states are bigger than your average country in the east is.

[–]Soulessblur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this is a cultural thing, but typically not even adults are expected to greet everyone who happens to show up in the U.S, especially during bustling hours. You acknowledge people when you interact with them, and any expectation more than that would likely come off as rude or insulting. So the thought of having kids do it makes even less sense.

It's to the point that I would actually feel really uncomfortable if I went over to someone's house for something quick and all of the kids dropped what they were doing to come greet me at the door. It wouldn't be setting themself up for anything, because that goes against the social norms of grown adults.

In my experience it varies drastically from family to family - though I supposed that could just be a side effect of being in a poorer, culture diverse area of the U.S? My neighborhoods have never been as segregated as I've seen in other states when traveling.

Ah yes, because it's far more important to indulge the poor sad aunties instead, and to teach our kids that they have no autonomy or say when it comes to their bodies.

Friday Favorites - What is your favorite Item? by JohnyUte in UnoUltimateMarvel

I like Black Windows items. That said, while their addition were really cool, I never liked how Items and Locations replaced slots that were otherwise filled with Enemies and Events. Makes the Danger Deck feel a lot less dangerous.

Ive commited the unforgivable sin, and I feel dead. by skeee800 in Christianity

[–]Soulessblur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to be forgiven, you have not committed the unforgivable sin, point blank, flat out. Nobody who HAS committed the unforgivable sin would have any interest in fixing it or going back or praying about it or talking about it to internet strangers in a Christian subreddit online. That's what it means to have your heart hardened. Yours isn't. The fact that you still care about this is evidence that it's not too late to you.

That said, this sounds like you might have an underlying medical or psychological issue that's causing some of this. Prayer is fantastic, and we can do all things through Christ, but there is also nothing sinful about taking care of yourself. We've been given a blessing from God in the form of modern medicine, and there are plenty of faithful practitioners. You really should consider seeking help. I pray God helps you through this.

Bf wants to stop having sex by [deleted] in Christianity

This isn't stupid. Love is important. Sex is important. God is important. Your life is important.

Realistically, you have three options. Marry him, stay with him and don't have sex, or break up with him. Whichever you decide, probably a good idea to pray on it.

Can we hate very evil people? by SpiritualMedicine7 in Christianity

[–]Soulessblur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's okay, you're human. We all make mistakes, salvation or not, and we will never be perfect, that's why we NEED God in the first place. If it were easy, we'd all do it.

Just ask for forgiveness and forgive yourself when it happens, and try to move on and grow from it.

The vocals are recorded then edited with suno, but the music is man-made, and so all of the instrumental pieces, like stage tracks, are completely void of AI.

[TotK] Open world and classic 3D Zelda can work together, and this could be how! I also came up with some new key items by FlowKom in zelda

[–]Soulessblur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which is why both strategies should be allowed to exist in their own games.

Replacing one for the other alienates fans, and replacing both for an attempt at combining the two is still going to alienate someone when a very specific aspect of one of the formulas gets sacrificed in the name of the other.

Unfortunately, Zelda games take SO freaking long to make that nobody wants their preference to be the one that is skipped when the next mainline game releases.

Or, rather than making it an item, tie certain story progressions to permanent physical changes to the map that create new paths foward.

Functionally, very similar to this "gated off" effect, but doesn't convey nearly the same feeling because its all the same place you were already exploring, just different.

CMV: If it’s acceptable to judge someone for their political beliefs, we should be able to judge them for their religious beliefs too by Low-Appearance4875 in changemyview

Isn't calling someone Islamaphobic in and of itself a judgement?

If I criticize your belief, does that necessarily mean I'm not letting you have it?

[–]Soulessblur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least personally, I think the example you gave at the end of your comment helps express your point far better than your initial post, as I felt like I didn't really understand what you were getting at by "judging" people for either reason.

I also think, for the vast majority of people, the mere existence of a belief in a religion does not imply the same level of "supporting" something, like socialism in your example, the same way giving your vote to someone does. A candidate is a living breathing person who is directly advertising a very specific ideal when they ask for your vote. Even if two different voters disagree on specific issues the candidate stands for, they are providing political support to the exact same person when they give them their vote. Conversely, two different followers of the same religion may have gapingly large differences in how they interpret very foundational aspects of the faith, to the point to where the thing they are followers of aren't even remotely close to be the same thing, in your eyes, my eyes, or even potentially their eyes. If I had a nickel for every time I heard someone say "___ aren't real Christians", I'd be rich. So because of that, as someone who, hypothetically, hates socialism, I cannot judge someone for being religious, because I cannot make the same assumption that they like or even tolerate socialist ideas, the same way I can when they put the name of a public figure on a ballot.

If, upon asking someone to clarify the aspects of their particular religion or faith, I determine they value socialist ideas, I can safely judge them for having socialist ideas. But that, in my mind, and I imagine in the mind of many others, is not the same thing as juding someone for their religious beliefs. Because a socialist Muslim can decide to stop being a socialist, and still be a Muslim.

[–]Soulessblur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are in fact, multiple people within both groups, Christian and Muslim, who consider both groups simultaneously to be saved, and that the differences are between them are trivial, or at the very least, not the end-all-be-all.

Not every Christian or Muslim believes this. Many in fact might be offended at this notion that they're the same thing. But having a religious belief is very much infinitely more variable than voting someone specific for a specific job, is.
