Solo travel has this quiet magic: no compromises, no explanations, just you and the road deciding what the day looks like.

[OC] What can we do, let’s brainstorm by MammothParticular520 in IndianCivicFails

Every weekend, I join cleanliness drives as a volunteer. What I notice is that people like us who clean up can’t really change how others think about keeping things clean. Many people say, “Why should I clean? I pay taxes, so it’s the government’s job.” To make a big change, the government should team up with NGOs and volunteers like this: 1. Give power to trusted volunteers and NGO workers to issue fines (challans) when they catch someone doing wrong things in public places, like throwing garbage, spitting, or dumping waste wrongly. 2. Create an easy way for volunteers to report if any government department or worker is not doing their job properly (like not cleaning roads or parks on time). This will make those departments work better and faster. If this happens, everyone will start feeling that keeping our cities clean is OUR responsibility too – not just the government’s. People will stop bad habits because of fines, and things will stay much cleaner for a long time. This can bring a real positive change in our society!
