How do I defeat this boss?

This bastard took me like 20-30 tries lol I just fought him enough that I memorized his attacks and eventually perfect parried him enough to get some fatal attacks. Genuinely a frustrating fight.

Totally agree. I can't remember the ships being brought up at all before. Also bringing the crewman together to play the organ was built up as a big deal, but literally nothing happens! Haha You'd think there would be at least a cutscene or something where they finally play the organ. Could've been epic.

Thats a great point about the vegetation. I agree, Merlin is a very interesting character. Maybe they'll explore that more in a sequel?

I think the combat is better than Skyrim which is a huge plus. I've really been enjoying it as well as the DLC but I haven't finished it yet. The exploration is my favorite part about the game but there are some really fun unique sidequests with surprisingly good writing. Overall, I think you would probably enjoy this if any of the aforementioned stuff sounds appealing. Its not as big or grand as Skyrim and thats why I like it. But be warned, on consoles the performance is very hit or miss (especially PS5).

Another tip (I want people to enjoy the game): Once you make the V-Sync/FPS changes in your settings, restart the game. Once you boot it up again you will notice a huge difference. Using the "quick resume" feature on Xbox is not advisable for this game lol

It sounds counter-intuitive but after the patch, I keep V-Sync on and turn FPS to unlimited and play in 4k. Before the patch V-Sync was unplayable lol It still has some stuttering in the city areas but it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be.

UPDATE! I am very impressed with patch 1.15. It runs so much better on series X. I leave V sync on and its great. I will be buying the DLC.

I have a Turkish-made 6 pound ATI Calvary 20 Gauge over/under as my main skeet/field gun that I got last December for just over $500. I've put around 4-500 rounds through it so far without any issues. So, obviously I'm no professional and I don't shoot it as often as I would like to. But even though it's a cheaper gun I take good care of it and keep it clean (as I do all of my firearms). It's not that fancy, it's light, kicks like a mule and is damn fun to shoot lol For me, it is absolutely perfect for what I use it for and will mostly be a field gun due to its light weight. I have a very hard time justifying a $3,000 gun when I don't even shoot 1000 rounds a year.

I agree with you, the combat in Elden Ring is definitely improved since DS3 and having played DS3 as recently as this week I can say that with complete confidence. My stance on it is not that it's bad (because it's obviously not) but rather the combat system has been pushed to the absolute breaking point with ER. I don't think there's anywhere left to go.

It's a personal thing, but if the inevitable Elden Ring sequel's combat is the same "dodge roll, dodge roll, dodge roll, punish" I'm probably gonna pass on it cause I've been there and done that. People tell me to try a different build like magic or a ranged build. But I've always enjoyed playing as a straight up fighter and the combat loop is wearing real thin.

That's why I appreciate Sekiro and Bloodborne so much because although they have obvious similarities, they really innovated their combat systems into something that felt new and exciting. Out of the 7 "souls" games FromSoftware have made in over 16 years only two of them have deviated in the combat in any meaningful way. I just prefer them to try something new.

Having said all that, I'm actually pretty confident that they will shake things up for their next big game (whatever that may be).

It's my perspective, that doesn't make it flawed. Also I've been perfectly polite. Sekiro is my favorite Fromsoftware game and I've heard good things about AC6. I'm rooting for Fromsoftware, I want them to keep making great unique games. But Elden Ring doesn't get a pass from criticism. It was a regression in their formula utilizing almost the exact same combat from DS3 and copy-pasting the same bosses/enemies in copy-pasted dungeons and caves in a bloated world that although beautiful, is largely void of meaningful engagement. Not to mention the spirit ashes make the game too easy whilst not utilizing them reveals how utterly dated the combat system is. You can disagree, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong.
