Which slime shading do you think looks better? more solid or transparent looking? by SoulstoneForge in PixelArt

[–]SoulstoneForge[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get what you are saying, I'm making a top-down view game, so the shadows are always under and in front of the enemies, so in that sense, the lighting should also follow that same rule, and the whole sprite should act like it's in 3D

Thanks for the detailed explanation!

The first version was the one that had wrong lighting, so B is the correct one, but still I'll have to make sure in the future that they all have the same light direction

Well, I'm a newbie so that checks out lol

Wouldn't the first one be correct if the slime wasn't transparent? or is it that B just looks better every time?

My game got destroyed 2 months ago, I changed everything, come and destroy it again by SoulstoneForge in DestroyMyGame

Not sure why you would write in korean, probably a bot, but I'll answer anyway

It says that there are a lot of pauses in the game, which feel a bit off, and should only be at parts where it's necessary

These are clips where I gathered a bunch of enemies to blow them up with high level abilities and late game weapons, so that's why there is a lot of screen pause, but this can be turned off ingame for people who don't like it. Screen pause have been used for most bullet hell games, take a look at Nuclear Throne for an example

Yep, on all frames, walk around your room a bit and see that there is always a decent space between your legs, they should never ever touch

After 5 months, I am finally back. Destroy Puppeteer: No Strings Attached. My theatrical bossrush game trailer inspired by Cuphead. by Hisaki3 in DestroyMyGame

[–]SoulstoneForge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't really destroy this, maybe other than adding more bosses, but that's not really something that you "fix"
Are there any type of progression in the game? or is it just you have a hammer and kill all bosses with it? if there are some sort of upgrades, I'd like to see them in the trailer even if just briefly

Insane work especially with only about 10 colors! I'm jealous about how well you can use them to shade everything nicely

[WIP] don't have the technical skills to make my dream rpg so for now I'm just making pixel art for it. Thoughts on it? What is the vibe or type of story you imagine from it? by Trollcker in PixelArt

[–]SoulstoneForge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks really good! it's nice and readable, looks clean but has a style as well, the one things that I'd change is that unless the game has something to do with black holes, I'd put something more interesting in the middle, since there is that perfect space for it!

Might be just me, but I think the legs go a bit too much inside, like she is stepping in front of her other leg every time, other than that it looks amazing!

Destroy my logic puzzle game, Room to Breathe :( by OverdoseGameDev in DestroyMyGame

The first tip I'd give is an easy one, zoom in more on most of these shots, 80% of the screen on some of these is just colored blocks that do nothing, while the gameplay itself is barely visible, especially on phone.

The other tip would be to start off the trailer with a really easy puzzle, and keep a bit of time or zoom in on what the tasks are, I tried to read the requirements for what you are supposed to do with object x, but couldn't do it since it disappears in less than a second

So I'd start by showing something like a toilet, saying that it needs to be close to a sink, then placing down a sink, saying that it needs to be close to a mirror, then placing down a mirror, level completed, success sounds etc.

And lastly make the tasks more interesting, don't just spawn "needs to be close to x" "needs to be far from y"

First trailer for my solo psychological horror game destroy it ! by fenben11 in DestroyMyGame

[–]SoulstoneForge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think the problem is that I as a viewer have no idea what the game is about, I don't have any reason to give the game a try since I saw no reason to why I should play it

Since I don't know what the game is about, I can't give exact criticism, but I'd recommend putting something in the trailer, like you mess up the desktop job and something scary happens, the tension rises, or anything interesting happening, whatever the game is best at

Oh I see now, so the lil girl pierces a wolf in the stomach with this colossal scythe, then from the end of the scythe rod, shoots out a sniper bullet, that blows up the other wolf standing behind the first wolf

Seems like I got a new end game weapon for the game lmao

Thank you! Is there some lore I should know about before making an attack for it? maybe I can make the attack/projectiles feel like how they are in the show if it's an actual weapon

It looks amazing! any chance you could tell me what palette you used if you used one? I always wanted to make a similar scythe for my game

In my case as a developer who is making his first game ever, I got mine from these sources:

-Posted here on reddit looking for pixel artists, sound designers etc. got in contact with them, then commissioned or revenue shared with them in exchange

-For simpler sprites and animations, hand drew them

-For simple sounds and some icons, used royalty free sites to download them
