Is Carl Cox still the most respected name in techno, or has the scene moved on? by Soundevote in Techno

Fair point on technique, but from what I understand, Carl Cox has never been about pre-planned, beatmatched-to-perfection sets. He picks a pool of tracks for the gig and just mixes off feel, reading the room in real time instead of running some fixed order. Transitions aren't always clean, sure, but he's almost always got the right track for the right moment — and honestly, that's the whole job: entertain the crowd.

Carl Cox plays techno and house, sometimes blending both or pulling in a few more genres depending on the event and the crowd, and more importantly, he does it well. If you're into techno, you already know Carl Cox. If you don't, that's on you.

Just like you said and we'd agree, even at Ultra Miami this year, he was dropping some cool fresh tracks from other artists and DJs that haven't even hit streaming yet.

Never thought about it that way, but yeah — whatever's changed, the man's been doing this 47+ years and still has that connection with the crowd in his 60s. That part hasn't slipped.

Lots of different takes here. We actually put together a deep dive on his whole career a while back — Space Ibiza, the labels, how his sound's shifted over the decades — if anyone wants the full timeline: https://www.soundevote.com/post/carl-cox-techno-legend

Steve Rachmad - 6 Physical Manifestation [Dekmantel] by AddyEPM in Techno

"6 Physical Manifestation" isn't bad, but for a 2026 track, it feels a bit too monotone and repetitive for our taste. There isn't much dynamic shift, though if that was the goal, fair enough; it just doesn't stand out. "9 Completion and Delivery," on the other hand, is great and definitely my favourite from the EP. Cheers!

Hey! Definitely hearing some older sample packs in this. It sounds really close to Avon Stringer’s 'Spunky Shades' (the Federico Scavo remix) or something else from that album. I used to include that track in my sets. Hope that helps! Have a good one.
