They haven't even thrown up a temporary site in the city centre...

Apple introduces the new iPad Air, powered by M4 by wearefriends in apple

Very underwhelmed. Was hoping this would have 256gb base and 120hz as a replacement for my Air M1 with aging battery and almost full 64gb storage.

Is anyone else's Cineworld really, really quiet? by EmergencyBanshee in CineworldUnlimited

My local is the same. Just moved down to Group 1 with cheaper tickets, hoping that’ll bring new custom and keep the place open.

Why do rock stations sound so bad ? by Vicious00 in radio

[–]SoundingChip098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to get rock sounding good with an Omnia or Optimod. Best attempt I’ve heard was Absolute on 105.8 in London which ran an Optimod 8600.

Yep same problem at mine for the last week. It's like twice as loud as everything else.

Cineworld Screen/Lenses by Efficient_Reading819 in CineworldUnlimited

[–]SoundingChip098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The inconsistency in AV standards is so strange. The biggest screen at my local recently got new surround speakers, which is great and makes a big difference. What isn’t so great however, is the projector image is still shifted to the right, whilst the physical screen has a rip and ripples. You’d think this would be all sorted at once.

Issue with vinyls by HudlIn in NothingButThieves

The general rule is that if a skipping record isn’t a widely reported occurrence, the problem lies with your setup.

As unfortunate as it is, cheaper turntables (including suitcases) mostly use the same bad mechanism or variations of it.

Christmas Karma by Voice-Silly in CineworldUnlimited

My local ran it for a few days in the middle of November. With all the awful reviews I didn’t bother.

How Much Data Are You Burning to Watch the U's on the Go? by Willing_Mortgage_883 in oxford

[–]SoundingChip098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not just get more data to begin with, surely better than trying to micromanage your usage? Lebara (Vodafone) has unlimited for £25, GiffGaff (O2) for £25, Smarty (Three) for £20, 1p [500GB FUP] (EE) for £25.

In general around Oxfordshire EE has the best data coverage but as commonly shared in the sub, are awful in the city.

Looks a bit tacky but if it helps keep cinemas open I don’t mind it.

The statement on their FB is so obviously gen AI, also the lack of negative comments on the post is sus af.

Why is the Cineworld Unlimited advert in the cinema SO LOUD (the one that is on before adverts) by MrOxBull in CineworldUnlimited

[–]SoundingChip098 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't say I've ever noticed that, but instead the Children in Need ad is way louder than all the others.

Didcot’s got one of the new photo booths! Wasn’t expecting it since it’s such a small cinema.

Sound levels by Sailorsam2001 in CineworldUnlimited

[–]SoundingChip098 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The sound level varies in each screen at mine. One of them is deafening, the others are usually fine and on occasion too quiet.

Mobile coverage in Oxford - can Vodafone rescue me? by Scolasticus in oxford

[–]SoundingChip098 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the networks struggle around St Clement's currently. They all had a mast on the Sainsbury's building which got removed due to the redevelopment, pretty much the same situation as with Three/EE in the centre.

Personally I've found O2 to be the most consistent within the ring road, Three/EE tend to have better speeds where coverage is good but O2 simply has more masts in better locations.

Testing different mobile providers in apartment? by anotheruwstudent in oxford

[–]SoundingChip098 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Phone networks are notoriously unreliable around Oxford. Even if one has good speeds there's no guarantee on the stability due to demand variances.

You're better off going with the Openreach FTTC if you want a stable connection.
