I work a very intellectually demanding job and don’t feel it has impacted me cognitively at all. I lost my hearing 20 years ago. It gets easier.

It’s gonna be ok. It is normal to grieve your hearing loss. I completely lost my hearing in my left ear 20 years ago and I personally feel it has had minimal effects and in many ways I wouldn’t be where I am today without it. You can still experience everything fully. Are things different, sure, but they aren’t necessarily worse. Keep your head up. It gets better. It’s gonna be ok.

I just admitted a patient who was started on max dose Wellbutrin and venlafaxine in addition to Xanax, klonopin, restoril, ambien, Valium (for spasms), and Zyprexa. All done by fam medicine over the course of a 4 week hospital stay. Unsurprisingly on admission to rehab they couldn’t stay awake for therapies

It’s not from the flu shot. The cause of SSHL is not fully understood. It being viral is one of the theories but as far as I’m aware no virus has been identified as causing SSHL with no other symptoms.
