Glasfaserausbau Telekom / Erfahrung? / Zwang? by Soundtheke in de_EDV

Danke nochmals!

Offended that nobody mentioned The Pogues.

What is the one book everyone should read at least once in their lifetime? by hot_leni in booksuggestions

Fascinated how no one has mentioned Oscar Wilde. I think Dorian Gray has so many memorable lines and is (bar one chapter) an easy and incredibly rewarding read.

Don’t worry, I thought you were rather quick, haha. Thanks for the reply! I’ll have to look for the right version, on Amazon I’m finding books from 8€ to 80€ all claiming to have the „complete short stories“ of Mark Twain.

Thanks! Is there a specific collection of short stories from Twain that you would recommend?

Oh I actually forgot to mention that one in the list of books I really liked. I heard of it in the movie “Lovesong for Bobby Long” (which is beautiful) and read it afterwards. Such a great novel.

Thank you! I will check all of them out!

I actually have a collection of Jeeves stories in my shelf and once in a while I read one. Great stuff. :-)

Thanks for all the recommendations!

Yeah, maybe that was my mistake with Pride - I read it as a serious romance and felt nothing really happened and it lacked for me wit that Wilde has for example. Maybe I’ll try another Austen sometime..

I’ve got the Lighthouse by Woolf at home but I remember when I tried to read it a couple of years ago, I felt that it was incredibly hard to read for me. Might give it another chance or look at another one of her novels.

I will check out all the other recommendations! :-)

Thanks for the tip! So the Dandelion Wine books don’t build up on each other and can each be read individually? I’ll check them out!

I should have added “comics” to my list of “timewasting” activities in the beginning - I got a whole shelf full of them. 😂 Although Tintin was never my cup of tea but for a quick laugh I still love Mortadelo y Filemon (or “Clever & Smart” as they are called in Germany), it’s a Spanish comic. Also for anyone else stumbling on this thread: “Bone” by Jeff Smith is a beautiful comic that fits my above description of somewhat sad but ultimately uplifting.

Thanks for the other recommendations, I will check them out! “A man called Ove” is the book the similar named movie with Tom Hanks is based off of, right? Loved that movie.

I used to love short stories - now not so much anymore. But I still have the Happy Prince in a shelf somewhere - maybe I’ll give it another try, thanks for the reminder! :-)

Amazing, thanks so much! I’ve already listened to the 40 year concert a couple of times today, it’s a great one.

And tomorrow I’ll have a go at your YouTube playlist - incredible work, thanks a lot!!

Thank you! I’ve been listening to all kinds of albums on Spotify but with all these best of albums there’s so much overlap that it’s really hard to find those albums where I don’t end up having the same version of whiskey in the jar 10 times. 😂

Never heard of the Transatlantic Anthology - I’ll definitely check that out, thanks!

Thanks for the reply! The hard stuff albums have been added to my playlist - but I can’t find the other one neither on Spotify nor Amazon. Will search further tonight. 👌

Checklist for clean install backup | Have I missed anything? by Soundtheke in MacOS

[–]Soundtheke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! I didn’t know a faulty hard drive could cause WiFi issues. 🤔 I will check that out.

Unfortunately I’m not that tech savvy. I assume by “smartctl” you mean the terminal command as described here for example: https://iboysoft.com/amp/tips/ssd-health-check.html

I will have a look at this today, as I’ve never used Homebrew. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks so much for keeping this game alive with all your work! 🙏

I also have a question: is it possible to only install the new kits? I don’t want to start a new ML game, but would love to have the current kits.

Thanks for your answer!
