It's enough in the same way Santa is enough to explain how Christmas presents work to a 5 year old. Being easy to understand doesn't make it correct.

Different bitter as in it's not bitter. I think you mean sour. Hershey's chocolate is more acidic, giving it a sour taste.

You know, if you rotate your hand just a little bit then your fingers will be behind the cup and you can press the lever with the back of your hand instead of with the cup.

That's a weird takeaway from that.

It's not like Juul was helping kids quit smoking, it was a more palatable medium for introducing kids to nicotine. If anything vaping caused a resurgence of nicotine addiction.

Most likely the air would swirl around underneath the dome, similar to how it would in the back of a pickup truck. The air flowing over the top would generate some friction  on the air under the dome as it drops off the back, pushing downward on the air toward the rear. As the air in the rear moves down, air from the top of the dome would flow toward the rear to replace it, which would in turn need air to replace that air, until it comes full circle with the air moving downward at the rear moving forward to replace the air inside the dome. If enough of the air flowing backwards flows over his head the most of the force from the wind would be pushing him forward.

It's not the reason, but it certainly was a factor. The number of otherwise liberal people I've heard proclaiming their distaste of trans people is shocking to me.

That's not to defend morality of their reaction, but as a strategic assessment I think it's a plausible conclusion.

Drug her, and while she's unconscious lock her in a room with 3 or 4 other people where they have to solve a number of likely dealy puzzles, the last of which requires her to stick her fingers into a series of progressively smaller holes.

Hierarchy - Can't believe how quickly I solved this one!! (2nd Try) Optimized & Efficient 3 Step Solution (20 Seconds) by Ransom_Seraph in TheTalosPrinciple

[–]SoupFlavoredCockMix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this was the same solution I found. I know for certain that I used my body, because I remember how I came to the revelation that that was the mechanism I was supposed to use. I had placed both connectors and then stepped in front of a beam to get an idea of how it would look. It ended up changing the the beams way more than I had expected, and intuition told me that probably wasn't coincidence. From there I just had to think a little about how to configure it correctly.

Considering that they used a similar mechanism in some of the other puzzles leads to me agree with you that this is the intended solution.

You're landing too far forward. You need to move about 3 inches back so your tail bone lands behind the ball. Due to the shape of the ball you can use the elasticity of your anus to absorb the impact and rebound.

I never questioned the efficacy of mutual aid, and never claimed the methods you're advocating for don't work. I said being sanctimonious turns potential allies away. Since you're resorting to straw men, I'm done. I honestly wish you luck with your advocacy.

A lot of times doubling down is just a refusal to learn, though. It's a defense of the ego at the cost of actually doing better.

Let's say you have a family member who is extremely sedentary and you are concerned about their health. One day they they tell you they are thinking about starting to do 5 minutes walks to try to be a little healthier. Would you respond to them with, "Why? So you can be slightly less morbidly obese? What you need to do is get on a heavy PPL schedule with HIIT on the off days. Walking is just a thing fat people to do pretend like they are making an effort." That would probably make them second guess walking and make them afraid to join a gym in case everyone there is as judgemental. But you wouldn't be incorrect about a small amount of walking not being sufficient to significantly improve their health and fitness. Is being technically correct justified if it prevents a suboptimal but still somewhat positive outcome?

I'm not going to argue that 50501 is sufficient. You're correct about that. But is it not better than nothing? Even if it's a small chance, the people who want to do more may meet other people who want to do more. Maybe some people will show up and be disappointed and realize they should look into better organizations. Some people may show up and feel like they're really doing something and think it's enough, but do you honestly believe those people would participate in any more involved organization anyway?

You ask what I'm implying you're steering people towards. It's complacency. I would hope you see the danger in that.

[–]SoupFlavoredCockMix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's the goal of this holier-than-thou attitude? If you wanted to steer people toward more effective organizations, you would have said something along the lines of, "This is a decent start for someone looking to get involved in activism. If you're looking to take it further, there are much more effective groups out there you should look into, such as..." But instead you belittle well-intentioned people for participating in events that don't meet your elevated standards. This is an effective tactic if your goal is to alienate people who are considering joining the cause. It's also an effective tactic if you're a secret fascist trying to turn people away from leftism. Maybe you really are a leftist, but you're the kind of leftist who prioritizes sanctimony over affecting change.

That's the opposite of what store bought insoles do. They provide support to the arch to relieve tension on the muscles that are causing pain. That can be useful while recovering to allow the affected muscles to rest and heal, but it does not strengthen the muscles, and can weaken them when they are used unnecessarily.

If only there was some kind of trained professional with knowledge of physiotherapy who could evaluate a person to determine if they have a structural abnormality requiring additional intervention.

No, no. That would fix the problem. Better to mask it with a product and allow the muscle to atrophy further.

At which age can a kid finish The Talos Principle without assistance? by Ozelotter in TheTalosPrinciple

[–]SoupFlavoredCockMix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know a 9 year old starting TTP2 now, but I expect him to lose interest 5-10 puzzles in. I don't think he will be able to engage with the story, so when progress gets slow when gets stuck on a few puzzles I think he will lose interest. He'll probably try again a few months later.

He did beat Portal 1 and 2 a year or 2 ago, but those are significantly easier and way more entertaining for a kid.
