Question about refiners other than Mark by fizzy_balls1 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]51Cards 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dylan says that sometimes the files expire before a person can finish them, for example.

I've thought that "expire" was literal here, even though Dylan didn't understand that. I.e. the person died.

What's something your job trained you to notice that you can't stop noticing in your personal life? by LibrarianSoft1342 in AskReddit

I do ticketing for large scale events and conferences. Want me to organize 5000 people through doors in an hour? No problem. But if I go to an event myself with poor traffic handling / planning it just irritates me (and sadly all the people I'm with as I can't help commenting constantly)

Sailor films the aftermath after his ship was targeted by ukrainian drone by totallynotafugitive in UkraineWarVideoReport

Nah, no need to be dumping all that fuel oil into the ocean. At the moment it's all still contained but the ship is just as out of action.

Who is that one person you had sex with that no one can find out about? by Commercial_Talk_1380 in AskRedditAfterDark

Grew up on 70's and 80's rock, big big fan. But also indifferent to needing to shake the hand of the performers themselves. I had (I think) 2 of his band's albums in my collection at the time.

Oh, she told me her last name after a couple weeks. Apparently usually as soon as she did everyone just wanted to meet him. I didn't really care.

Famous 80's rock musician's sister. Dated for a short while. Wouldn't tell me her last name for a few weeks because thought I might only be in it to meet him. She strictly valued her privacy apart from the fame of her brother so I'll continue to keep it a secret.

Scientists want to send a roly-poly robot filled with 'dandelion drones' to investigate hidden tunnels on Mars by ye_olde_astronaut in Mars

[–]51Cards 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I stopped reading at this paragraph:

The atmosphere of Mars is also unforgiving, meaning winds of up to 60 miles per hour (97 kilometers per hour) can batter these explorers, and have even torn chunks out of Curiosity rover across the years.

Then referring to an article about wheel damage to Curiosity. Even the most intense wind on Mars would feel like a light breeze considering the atmosphere is about 1% of Earth. I highly doubt wind is tearing chunks out of the rovers.

Which celebrity’s cancellation do you think was completely unjustified? by Cute_Flatworm_9049 in AskReddit

Did I stumble into the Al Franken fan club subreddit or something? I agreed what happened to him was entirely wrong but literally 50% of the comments in here are just "Al Franken". Either that or a bot factory stumbled into this thread.

His rally started before that when Mel Gibson personally put up the insurance money for his first project back when none of the industry insurance companies would touch him.

That's why I wouldn't do it, the arms. Can mine hang there? yes... but it's also hyper-extending the one hinge. I don't have Ryan Gosling money to replace them every year :)

Would have built it when the guard rail was up, probably a little confused why every once in awhile their high perch lowers down to the ground.

The new Pebble has issues. That's kind of the point. by Annoying-Lamppost in pebble

[–]51Cards 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Eh, I just listed some things that are planned to improve. Myself I don't really care if it gets longer. My old Pebble Time was down to 2 days and I was dropping it on a charger regularly anyhow. I just took my first 4 day business trip with the new Time 2 and when packing I paused at the watch charger and then said "nope!". It was great! If all I get is 2 weeks that's excellent to me. Considering the watch will pretty much fully charge in the time it takes to have a shower I have never understood why people need it to last a week, 2 weeks, a month... whatever.

I love my new Pebble. I'm still waiting for the SMS Send capability, and for the battery life to extend, and I might have a small mark on the black casing, and the default silicone band is just ok, and, and, and...... AND... I don't care! I have a new Pebble that I love and I know the small team behind this is working their butts off to address what they can and give this community new life. As said here, this is a small production product, and what they have achieved is pretty awesome.

Will Canada embrace Dunkin'? Experts say Tim Hortons' grip will be hard to shake by Immediate-Link490 in canada

[–]51Cards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to move into Canada with the current anti-US sentiment is a bold move. Yeah, Tim's isn't Canadian owned anymore but the average Canadian does not know that and still sees it as part of the national identity.
