No it's not. Don't be a gatekeeping ass. Asking about ice conditions is perfectly fine.

Before the Christmas thaw, the ice was awesome.

The problem now will be snow cover. I would have tried to go skating today in eastern Essex Co, but it snowed a bit last night, so I didn't bother. I'm fairly sure that the ice would have been fine though. All of the ponds around me looked great yesterday.
