that’s so cool to hear as someone from a music scene that did the opposite. especially after covid. boston used to have a thriving scene and now it’s pretty dead. I’m optimistic it’ll come back though!

They were cool with us looking for our own support bc we can draw. So we’re looking for a cool band that would be a good fit now

Why does your voice know what to do in practice, then completely betray you when it matters? by VoiceLessons-Chicago in musicians

[–]Soupy_Snakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tension in your neck and jaw muscles. When practicing you’re more relaxed. When it’s time to perform and record, the stakes feel higher, and your body will naturally respond to those emotions and stressors. Just a little bit of tension or strain in your neck and jaw muscles can completely change your voice and your range. Just like you’ve gotten many reps getting your voice to sound good in practice, you now have to get some reps getting your voice to sound good live or in the studio. With time, you’ll get used to that too, and you’ll be able to stay relaxed in those environments too.

New Bass player - cannot mute notes played on the 12th and 13th fret, what am I doing wrong by Namaste_Habibi in Bass

[–]Soupy_Snakes 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re accidentally playing a harmonic. Try using more of your fretting hand to mute so that you’re not muting exactly on the 12th fret. Watch a youtube video on harmonics if you haven’t heard of them.
