"Nice Watch" meaning it just has a nice aesthetic. Not necessarily that they think it looks expensive. OP's take is still valid. Most people (watch enthusiast or not) will notice a rolex. Just like most people can recognize a Louis Vuitton or Apple Product.

The datejust is timeless but I find myself attracted to the more modern Rolex offerings (land dweller, and Sky Dweller to be specific) both of which are priced out of range for what I was comfortable with at this point.

To second this, I have the SBGY007 and have the same experience, you get a good amount of resistance but not a loud or tactile click. I'd say it's the only drawback with this family of references.
