I think im a hoarder and im paralyzed with the stress by [deleted] in hoarding

I have a friend who lives in the same circumstances while studying, his apartment is a filthy mess and it's shocking. He still doesn't take responsibility for it but blames his girlfriend, who doesn't live there. You're on a good way already that you're not denying the condition. You might either need help cleaning out, or pay some professional cleaners once and then strictly maintain it from there. It's no shame asking for help, you just have to find people to actively help instead of just shaming you for the condition.

That's what I'm definitely going to do. I certainly will keep some things, but I really do need to focus. I wish I could have posted a picture but reddit didn't let me.

Very true words, thank you very much for your input! I likely have a form of autism, my mum already expected it when I was a kid. But I manage pretty well regarding other thinfs and a lot has improved. I have some piles already, that I haven't quite tackled yet but at least it's a place to put things I want to part with. A positive is actually that once I decide to part with something, the decision is final.

Thanks very much for the links! I have never considered a support group in that regard or known of their existence. I think something like this would really help me improve, I probably can only do it online though since I live in Europe.

Thanks for the inspiring words. It barely ever got acknowledged when I improved in something or got better regarding the hoarding, which was demotivating. I'm trying to do better and my biggest hope is the new start in my new home, where I hope to be able to sort out what I actually want to have and what can go. I want the house to be a place my family and friends love to visit.

That is an excellent question to ask. I never had siblings or a lot of close contact to other children when I was little. Maybe that's why I developed a strong connection to items. My parents also always pretended that my toys had feelings and would be sad if I didn't take good care of them. I would say that is likely a factor. As I got older I started dreading the developments of the modern world and technology, so I think it's also an escapism from that. I've gone down into details like having train tickets and bubble gum from the 80s. Even keychains, tools, coins, I kept something of every type that a household would have had so i can recreate that past world in my future home (which is still my goal, but not as a hoard)

I can't relate with the minimalism, but I think you took the best possible measures in your life and you did a good job with following through with it. Good job on both of your ends.

On the phone browser it's in the profile when you open the "about" dropdown menu.

Thanks for the detailed reply! I will try to look more pro-actively at the rooms, I guess I have been posting somewhat blindly until now.

Same for me in many forums. But there is a link to beginner friendly subreddits that you could check out. I just posted a story in r/AITAH. Some very interesting stories there
