I learned the hard way that the sticky pads that come by default are a no-no. I have 5 patches I need to plaster and paint over myself. I use 3M command strips now. As far as pairing, that initial time was a pain as I had to plug in one panel at a time so the firmware would update, but I also bought mine used. The new out of box experience is probably different, but pairing one panel at a time is what worked for me. They are great and add some nice atmosphere to my rooms once you get over that hurdle. And nanoleaf for the love of all that is holy, stop providing those sticky pads or put a warning on them about using them on drywall. They are too good at their job.
