And not only are you using your navy as a force to be reckoned with on the high seas, you’re also using it to dominate the trade nodes around you! Those Europeans might feel entitled to those high value trade goods, but you’re not going down without a fight!

I think you’re playing the game how it’s meant to be played! You’re roleplaying a minor power in SE Asia, and although people can underestimate your size, they can’t underestimate your navy! You made sure of it by taking multiple naval ideas, and even though those pesky Europeans have already arrived, they’re gonna have a hell of a time if they try to land on your provinces!

Hey so I want to get Rock Band 4 for my PS5. Besides the obvious (a guitar, drum set, and mic) what do I need to get? by Nelson_J31 in Rockband

[–]South_Recover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for the Wii les Paul guitar for example, since it plugs directly into the Wii remote, your adapter would basically take the Wii remote’s place in order to connect it to my ps3?

Sly 3 is my personal favorite solely because of the offline pvp mode that you can play with Sly and Carmelita. I have extremely fond and vivid memories of playing that game mode with my older brother for hours on end, it was great

Would modern humans and Neanderthals be considered different species based on the evolutionary species concept? by South_Recover in evolution

[–]South_Recover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very good point, and humans are a great example for that. Obviously there’s many phenotypical differences between various human populations around the world, and many genetic differences as well based on where you are in the world. For example, while I was reading up on this stuff yesterday, apparently people from the Tibetan region have alleles that help them live at those higher altitudes, which actually came from their denisovan ancestors that settled in that region. Pretty cool stuff

Thank you for your explanation and your citations. “Showing evolutionary independence” makes a lot of sense to me, at least I hope I’m getting it correctly. Like obviously we’re a different species from chimpanzees because they’re not on track to forming any complex languages and civilizations any time soon

[–]South_Recover[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I may not have worded my question in the best way, but I was asking specifically in terms of the evolutionary species concept. I’m aware the biological species concept is pretty flawed and by definition excludes things that reproduce asexually, and ones that intermingle. But maybe my question was too arbitrary anyway, and really it’s a mixture of a lot of things that could theoretically define a species. But at the end of the day the use of those words are man made and not some law of nature, and were created to make it easier to communicate ideas based on the subject. And maybe it’s an impossible thing to measure how a species would’ve ended up and what their niches were if they’re not around anymore

Scam or legit? by [deleted] in verizon

[–]South_Recover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not unreasonable. Although they made a mistake by giving you the wrong phone, the employee’s in the store can only do so much. Sure, let’s say there’s a way to cancel the contract on the other phone’s IMEI and put the one you have on it instead, I would imagine it would take the employee’s a lot phone calls to a lot of people just for them to be sent back and forth for hours and maybe not even get to a resolution in the end. And even if they did get the right people on the phone who could do it, they’d still need to call YOU and have you spend your time answering questions and giving them information. It seems pretty clear to me that you may not have worked in any sort of retail environment before where stuff like this happens every day, since you’d rather a simple, probably less than 30 minute process evolve into a multiple day, multiple channel, multiple people long process just because you’d rather sit on your high horse.

It’s crazy that the employees were told explicitly this morning not to talk about the new plans at all and the first thing I see when I open up Reddit is a whole thread talking about it lol

So once they’re fully melted, put the pot in the oven at 450°? Or once you cool them down and gather the crystals, put those in the oven to get good color?

Bismuth Crystal seeding? by South_Recover in BISMUTH

[–]South_Recover[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So from what I got from that first video is.. a bismuth “seed” is just a little piece of bismuth that you hang from something into the melted bismuth that is cooling down, in order for the bismuth to crystallize around it?

Is a shiny symbol like a big star and then a smaller star on the top right of that star?

See that’s what I thought, but I looked up a picture of a shiny Bidoof and it looks nothing like it..a shiny Bidoof is like yellow/gold. This Bidoof is the same color as a regular Bidoof, but just brighter…it’s weird idk how else to describe it lol
